    230 Starting issues
    Post by gregolma715 on Jul 9, 2006, 11:21pm

My '69 (stock 230) runs fine once started, the carbs rebuilt, the points adjusted, the timing and idle set, but it starts a bit odd when cold.

I have to full choke it to get to kick over, then no choke and I have to work the pedal once it catches or no run.

It hasn't always done this. Any ideas?

I don't touch the pedal. I give it full choke and hit the starter button. Once it fires up, it sputters and complains. I put it to about half choke and it seems to be happier. Once it warms up a bit, I push the choke all the way in.

I put new plugs in recently, but still have to set the timing and adjust the newly-rebuilt carburetor (once I stop the leaking out the float bowl!)
