    HI everyone I have a question, Setting the timing on M725 the books say set at 5deg BTDC,Now the question with or without vac adv. hooked up .

    Without the advance hooked up.

    If you mean on the stock military waterproof igniter setup, there is no vacuum advance to worry about disconnecting...

    If you have a civilian ignition with the vacuum advance....or any ignition with one for that matter, ALWAYS disconnect the advance unit to set the initial timing...the vacuum advance is on top of that initial, not part of it.
