    350, NV4500, NP 205 install
Post by gumball on May 1, 2006, 10:16am

Trying to find pictures or any help/hints on installing a 350 with a NV4500 and NP 205. I have already received my transmission and transfer case from Geartech and am ready to start install once I develop a plan of attack. I had researched and found numerous posts on our Zone site, including posts from Spicegear, but can find nothing now and unfortunately did not save any of those posts. The main concerns are installing the transmission and transfer case. Any help is greatly appreciated. Chuck

I can't get to what he has cached. But, I would suggest that you do this. Mount the V8/NV4500 in the truck using the stock short shaft to set your rear location of the 2wd version of the NV4500. This puts the shifter in the same location as stock. (You will need to make the circle hole square) I have a fist clearance between the HEI on my big block and the firewall, no valve cover problems and run a mechanical fan on a 2" spacer and still clear my Aluminum radiator with lots of space.

Once you get that right, swap out the NP200. It is the same size as the NP205. So, if you have the right size yokes, it will bolt up to all the shafts or you can use conversion u-joints. Either way, you just need to make mounts. The passenger side needs a bent section of metal to go from the stock mount to the top/side mounts on the 205. The drivers side depends on if you want to use the PTO. Tom made a 1/4" plate for a PTO cover and just welded directly from it to the stock mounts. It looks great and works.

I don't have my pictures of Tom's truck here at work.

Here is my drivers side motor mount. Stock 230 rubber, 1/4" plate connecting it to 396 Chevy motor mount bolts.

    Here is the passenger side.

Here is my 10 minute fabbed up transmission mount to the stock crossmember.

Just remember this. There is no right way. Just the way you want to do it. Mine works for me.

That was Lee's, MCInfantry, truck 2 years ago. He had a 4BT engine infront of the NV4500.
