    gillespie semi gloss 931 shot
Post by robertcowan on May 3, 2006, 6:52pm

hey guys just a note. i shot some of gillespie,s semi gloss black # 931 today. it wasnt the paint the 24087 o.d.green was in my opinion ! it was too thin, it took 4 coats to get enough coverage, also seemed awful glossy. we,ll see in the mornning when its dry. under no surcumstances thin this or you,ll regret it i promiss. i shot it with hvlp at 10 psi at the gun. sure would take alot of it to do a complete chassis. just tryin to help everyone.

BOY couldnt wait to go to the shop to see the 931 dry paint today. quality is good--- however ! the paint should say very glossy by far. you can see yourself in it. way to shiney for a military vehicle in my opinion. sure wish i went with 911 instead of 931. i could have shaven mysely in the paint job its so glossy. you could signal an airplane by reflecting off the sun.i,am gonna use this for something else besides my m715 for sure.

You know for colors like flat black and satin (semi-gloss) black I just use Kylon or Rustolum. You can get it any home center or hardware store and it gives a nice finish. I've used flat black rustolum for camo paint and it holds up well in the weather etc. Most of the time it's cheeper than other paints.
