House paint.. not a 1/2 bad idea...
    Post by socal715 on May 1, 2006, 5:33pm

I grinded off the layers of old crap .... and painted my bed this weekend over at pabst place... i thought it didn't turn out 1/2 bad.. considering i brushed it on like the olden days... ill take a pic tonight.. and get the paint type. I had Home Depot match 24087 rapco paint that i had a can of. Came out close enough for government work.

I used latex house paint on my dual metal tool boxes five years ago and the finish turned out nice. Brushed on also, and it leveled itself nice. Still holding on too and it's outside in the Colorado climate year round.

That's not bad looking, at all. I wonder how it would wear with a tire sliding around the bed....

(I know, you're supposed to have the tire strapped/bolted to the bed, but.....)

well its industrial, metal, non rust type paint... so we'll see how it takes abuse.... the $20.00 price tag was the best part

we are hoping it will fade... its a tad shiny right now.... it is semi gloss just like the rapco... so we'll see.

Fill it with dirt, drive it for 20 miles and then dump the dirt. Glossy problem solved.
