    Bed tie downs
Post by dxeflyr on May 1, 2006, 4:21pm

The previous owner cut the corner eyes off the top of the bed of my truck... do these play any part in holding the cargo cover on? I am going to eventually put the cover back on and wondered if I should start scrounging up some new eyes to weld back on. Thanks!

They are not part of the cargo cover...

They are for lifting the bed...but if you dont use some kind of side support and just try to hook up to those points and lift, they will get bent up..

They are also used to tie down a S-250 shelter if one is placed in the back.

I don't have the picture here at work, but I used a full size CAD drawing Chris posted some time ago to make 4 new ones out of 1/4" steel. I use them to tie down round bales of hay and other stuff I haul around. Besides being elbow magnets, they work great for what I use them for.

Actually I think it is 3/16" material, two of mine were cut off, I made four new ones and added two above the wheels, in the middle of the bed. I liked them so much I thought a couple more couldn't hurt. We used a large punch to make the holes, and cut and ground until almost perfect shape. No one will know after the bed coating is installed. Fisherman
