We have had this requirement for years before the crash even...so yes, the person registered an account and received the confirmation email and followed those directions.

    I banned the IP address...

Follow this link and you can see how many forums have reported this same email address as a spammer:

    One thing that might help:
On other boards I have been on if you posted a link before you had a post count above 10 the message was sent to a Mod for review - if they said OK then it was posted. Would have stopped this last dweeb. Have absolutely no idea how hard that is to do

This board allows us to either allow posts OR to review every post by a member before they appear on the boards...which could be a real pain for those, most, who are here to get a question answered...etc.

I dont think we have a feature like you describe but I will go through the stuff just in case.

Just out of curiosity I wonder if the postings were automated or done manually. I heard that there were 28 posts in all forums. Would they not need to be done manually? All the activity from the spam site suggests automated. That's not possible from forum to forum is it? Any of you guys know?

There were 35 or so in all...they could be done with a script so that the basic post is written and them posted in a kind of automatic way to many forums...one at a time...so the spammer doesnt have to type it all out every time...

Countryis listed as Finland...IP address traces back to Amsterdam...probably a bounce from theactual one...time zone was set to "Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta"...the US Pacific time zone is default...
