Nearly every tire manufacturer provides all the dimensional data on their tires, including suggested or specified rim dimension requirements.

You can "make" just about anything you want fit. For practical purposes though a 20" rim might do you better. That way the 14.00-20 or bigger Michelin tires can be had for cheap compared to the swamper tires which in my opinion are about 1/3 the tire for much more money.

What about the rims then though? What rims bolt up in place of the stockers?

You will need custom made rims. You basically have the stock rims and that is it. That is why I suggested you go up to 20" on the rim diameter.

Is this going to be a road only truck?

I'd not invest the time and money in our axles if you plan on running off road with that tire size. The front axle shafts will not like it a bit.

so what size tires can the stock axles handle doing combined roading and snow a little mud etc?

I agree there. I had a set of TSL's on my truck and after installing a set of XL Michelins, it has better manners all around. Much more tire for the $$$.

Basically like everyone has already said, the stock rims can probably handle a wide variety of tire widths, but keep in mind too, that you will need to find tubes and flaps for those big giant tires. Then there is the issue Doug mentioned about breaking stuff. Stock axles won't like any offroad time with really big tires. They aren't as strong as a new Dana 60 or 70.

i forgot about the tubes and flaps issue. Is this because it is a two piece rim?
