    Default Check yer nuts

I know we've covered this before, but I did a nut and bolt check this week prior to leaving for the MVPA convoy and found:

lower shock mount bolt front passenger side had backed out, allowing shock to wiggle around and contact shock tower.

tranny mount bolt loose, allowing tranny so "roll over" under load. (wondered what that clunking noise was)

    oil pan bolts loose, etc.

    So - check yer nuts!

My CJ has been broke ever since Sermis came for the FE in 2007. When I brought it home to fix the axle last month bmac and I found a oily bolt lying on the trailer. Turns out it was from the bellhousing. What I thought was a noisy throwout bearing was just the tranny about to fall out.

And the msd cd ignition went out when I got it back as well.

What a mess. Hopefully, next week I can get the axle fixed and get it back to the ranch.

Bottom line: Don't let sermis ever drive your junk. It won't be same ever again.

My CJ never made it out of the hole at the bottom of the hill.

Still haven't fixed that thing. Maybe I need to make a trip to the ranch...

Come on out. It is getting closer. I have new one-piece axles. Just working on getting everything cleaned up to put it back together.

He did shut it off as soon as he smelled oil and the pressure started down. It could have been worse. A lot worse.

Rich, I agree with you about just crawling under the truck and trying to turn stuff every now and then. Good advice.
Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

yeah, if I had bothered to look under it the CJ once in a while, I would have seen the problem with the leaf spring that started the string of destruction. Sermis just happened to be driving it when it let go. As far as I can tell there is no problem with the motor. Just all the other stuff that shook loose after 3 years as a ranch jeep.

Should be back at the ranch again in time for the 4th.

Sermis, want to come out and give it a test drive? NOT!!!
