After getting the Tornado engine transplanted into the truck, I had only driven it under 20 miles to a parade in mid-May and around the house.
I decided to spend the weekend with over 200 people I didn't know. I took the truck to El Reno, OK for a "Small Town Weekend". It is an annual event the the town puts on for 3 days. On Saturday the have a Sheriff sponsored burnout, Grascar races, car show and on saturday night, they close down a mile section on Rt 66 and only allow registered cars to cruise for 3 hours.
I didn't know how the truck would run so I trailered it the 45 miles to the event.
After unloading and the the event starting, the truck ran great for 3 hours and over 40 miles of cruising at 10-20mph. I didn't have to worry about the transfer case over heating...... I took untold number of kids, big and little, on the 2 mile trek. Every one loved it.
Being the only MV in the group I had many thumbs up and waves from the crowd.
I even got pulled over by the local PoPo on a bicycle. He gave me a ticket for $20.........That is a ticket to collect $20....... They loved the OD paint......
Not as good as Barrman's 1st Place trophy, but easier to spend......
The last picture shows the face of a Vietman Vet. He used to ride in the back of M715s and Deuces when he was in the service. It brought back many memories for him and he was extremly grateful for the ride.
Money to get the truck running - $$$$
Gas money to get to the event - $$
Look of gratitude on the peoples faces - Priceless
