The 230 had enough torque to pull the hide off of a bull elephant!

Neat article. Looks like the government didn't want the last few. They were on the market quick.

LOL The end of the second paragraph made me laugh. When I was in the USAF I got stationed at RAF Upper Heyford in the UK. It was a base for EF-111's and within one week of arriving there they had one EF-111 crash on approach and I found out that one had crashed 2 weeks before I got there. This was 1992 and I had just enlisted in '91. I learned the nickname for the EF-111 was "lawndart"

(yes I know the article says F-111, not EF-111)

My brother was stationed at Upper Heyford too, in 1975. He was crewchief on the the f-111's also.
My Mom and I went over to visit him and his family while he was there. I was only 15 but I remember he lived in Banbury.

    Very neat article!!

    Brakes were considered excellent...interesting.

Gotta love a fairly new governor truck not exceeding 3000 rpm or 52 mph in top gear...

Quarter mile testing....I had to laugh!!

86 decibels of noise...we knew they were noisy!

    Thanks for the great post!!!!

    Cool article....thanks for posting it.
I seem to remember that 15-20 years ago Mahindru (sp?), the same company that made CJ3Bs with a diesel 4speed setup also offered their version of a 715 with a diesel in it. The sparse amount of info I had seen looked like they sold for around 11k at that time. Has anyone seen any of the Bs or 175s for sale as used since?

You might be referring to the Korean built, KIA, diesel imitation of the M715...

What I found interesting too, is that some M715's escaped government service and then were apparently unloaded on a few dealers. I wonder how many of them went through that channel?

I also can't help but wonder when I see any old photos of these trucks, if the one pictured is now owned by one of the members here.
