    Default Steering U-joint parts?

I remember someone posting a year or so ago about getting the internal parts for the steering u-joint. This is the joint just outside the firewall and it has a couple of "pills" in it. Does anyone recall that and where those parts were available?

I need to rebuild the joint on my 715.

I only ordered the little blocks and a new rubber cover. It was a very tight fit, but it made the steering super tight and very precise.

    Thanks Tim!

Just exactly what I need. Mine is starting to bind a bit and the rubber boot is torn and leaking some nasty thick grease out of it.

I rebuilt mine with this kit and documented it. Would anyone be interested in me posting it?

The kit is not exactly like the original and needs to be modified slightly.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it if you don't mind posting.

What exactly did you need to modify in the kit?

The pics are at the house. I will post them tonight.

I ordered the #4 kit for $11. The rubber boot is a different design than the original. It is designed for a shaft that looks like a landscape timber, instead of the round shaft that is on the M715. It will slide onto the round shaft.

I had to trim the end on the boot to make it fit and use the new snap ring. Very simple.

What Joe wrote is what I had to do as well. I forgot about that since it has been a few years. The boot will rip if you look at it wrong also.

Oh, replace the rag joint if you haven't already. I did the rag joint and this kit at the same time as was amazed at the difference.

I am about to do a complete remanufacture of my custom steering shaft in the CJ. A friend gave me a toyota collision joint to weld in for safety. I was going to put a rag joint back in the shaft. Is it of the general opinion that these will hold up to rock crawling?
I have avoided them in the past.
Do you guys think I need a telescoping section along with the rag joint or do you think the rag joint will take care of the movement when flexing?

Seemed like a good place and time to ask.

Edit... Just realized I'm in the stock forum. sorry....
