    Default Detergent or Not

With reguards to engine oil. (yes I have manuals on the way) what is recommended for use in the stock motor? Detergent or non type oil and what weight? Once she is up and running is will get driven once a week during the winter months. So would it be best to run a 5w-30?
    Thanks
    Steve

I run 5W30 in winter and 10W30 in summer...Im about 130 miles north of you as the crow flies...close enough.

I run Vavoline in everything...synthetic is an option though the rear main seal likes to leak on many of the 230's, including mine, and the synthetic only makes it worse...

Use a detergent oil for sure. Anything that has a filter on it, generally needs detergent type oil, as it suspends the particles and dirt in the oil where they can then be circulated and filtered out.

Non-detergent oils are designed so that the contaminants drop out of the oil and into a sump screen or other type of sludge trap.

Thanks, I will give you a holler when I am that direction next, in hopes of seeing your toys up close and personal. Steve
