Thread: needed distributor for 68 truck

Default needed distributor for 68 truck

I bought this truck a while back but it was missing the distributor. I was told that a 12v was tried in the rig but never worked so they just left it alone and over time both distributors were lost or misplaced. Anyway I now have the problem and could use some good advice/experience getting this rig running again, of course that is asuming that it was running before I bought it. I would prefer a 12v over the 24v, but will I need to replace the altenator? Any direction would be helpful. If someone has one and would like to get rid of it let me know. Or are there other options out there on the very belated after market for this problem. Thanks Stu.

Where are you located? I might have something that would work?

12v units are scare...found occasionally but not when you need one it seems...they are worth finding...with a working vacuum advance, you will pickup power and economy.

I have a 24V ignitor unit I would sell...it needs a new coil and cap and rotor...might need points too, its been a while...if interested, let me know
