    does anyone know if the cherokee p/steering box would fit as a bolt on replacment ?

    Yes, the FSJ power steering boxes will bolt right on.
    Remember if you didn't build it you can't call it yours.

    I got mine from a '88 Grand Wagoneer.. N O T the later, small, boxy ones, but the BIGGER ones.
    On mine, Just 3- of the four bolt holes are used, and the 'flat support' that rund from the front frame to the side frame will probably cause interference with the lines to and from..
    At first, I didn't think that the bolt bosses were going to line up. BUT they did.

    The front lower bolt has to be accessed right in the corner of the frame's meeting. (YOU'LL SEE) And you only get a small movement of a wrench or socket, so clean the threads when you go to put it back together..

    That ONE bolt is a royal pain. I think it took a 5/8" wrench. A swivel u-joint type socket works great once you get the threads started. Of course, getting it threaded is all the fun.

    Seems like every project like this I've ever done there is always that 1 bolt lol
