Thread: 6BT, CUCV Axled M715 Build

Yes, I am thinking new throw out bearing and pilot bearing are in order. Clutch depends if it has been abused and over heated.

I am also looking at tire options. With the spring over I have really been leaning towards 14.5 /20’s. they are 43.4” tall and 14.4” wide. 11.00 / 20’s are also 43.1” tall but only 11.1” wide. I think they look to narrow. 12.5 / 20’s are 40.7” tall and 13.1” wide. I have some 395 / 20’s but at 46+” tall I think they will be too tall.
With the 6BT, OD tranny, 4.56 gears and 43” tires I am thinking really good road speed and good mileage.
Barrman has the RPM and MPH specs.

I am looking for input opinions on tire size options.

Here is the tire size chart.

    Yes, wider tires look better!

    My ,
Taller narrower wheels look more "correct" old military, I know you are not trying to look stock, but too wide looks more Monster Truck than it does military.

I guess the paint scheme you are planning on (I don't know what that is/missed it if it's earlier in the thread) would help point you in the direction to keep the over-all theme consistent.

Also, with the spring over and tall tires, getting in and out isn't going to be easy if you go TOO tall. Oh, and really tall - really wide tires just SCREAMS "I'm Compensating".

    Just my thoughts.

If you were to read the thread, and knew Steve, you'd know how true "just SCREAMS "I'm Compensating" IS! Haha, sorry Sermis.

It sure is sad when the guy who lives two doors down and a friend 1200 miles away both pick on you for the same thing.

USMC green to an all stock body is the paint that will be thrown on.

    Sure Steve, sure.

Here is what the rear spring flip looks like:

The front mount had 4 really stuborn rivets to get out and the inside the frame part had to be ground off the back plate. This is the inside the frame view of it flipped over, bolted on but not welded back up yet:

Outside the frame of the same thing:

The rear mount with the shackle flipped:

You can see that the 6BT fits in kind of tight, but it fits.

My student were rolling on the floor laughing when I told them I wanted pictures of this and why.

The cab is leaning back just a little and the engine is leaning forward just a little. I think it will go together ok once we figure out the engine placement. If it is too low, a body lift will make it work.

A student is making your windows roll up and down with 2 finger ease right now. I better go take the grease jug away from him before he decided everything inside the door needs a coat of grease.
