Default Engine, Brake and Windshield Question

First post here. Does anyone know the following:

Are there any AMC or Jeep engines that will bolt right up to the M715's transmission?

Is the M715 windshield tempered? If not, will the glass from a CJ fit in the opening?

Is there a place that sells the parts needed to put disc brakes on the front axle of an M715?

    Thanks a lot

No AMC engines will, the only things that bolt to the stock bellhousing without an adapter are the civilian 230 and the older, flathead, 226. These 2 engines both use different motor mount locations, very front of the engine, so while they bolt to the bellhousing, all new perches/motor mounts would be needed.

The windshield is tempered. The Model T windshield was tempered and all windshields since have been by law, including the M715. The CJ windshield does not fit. Many people take the windshield frame to a glass shop or make a cardboard template and have one cut....less than $100 last I heard.

The only place you can get a disc brake kit is:

Yes there are Jeep and Amc engines that will bolt up to our t-98 transmission. The late 60's era Jeep trucks had buick 350 engines, find one with a manual transmission and it will be a bolt in. Just have to use the longer input shaft/carrier bearing out of the t-18 and put into your t-98. It is then a bolt in. Amc 360 engines in the early 70's J trucks also will go in very easily, not sure about the bolting up to the t-98 but I bet they would also, look for one with a manual transmission. If I'm not mistaken most of the t-18's should have the same bolt pattern as out t-98's. A Jeep J truck v-8 transplant should be about the easiest swap there is.

To clarify, . . If you have the bellhousing for the engine, . you can bolt up. The bellhousing for the 230 is the "odd man out". To bolt up to the buick 350, you need the long input and the long buick bellhousing for the J-truck, it is different than a standard buick-application bell housing. Also make sure your bearing retainer/throwout bearing guide is long enough to put the throwout bearing in the right alignment to the clutch. There is a slight variation on bolt patterns on the T-18, some will work, others not, . . .one is the same as the T-98, which was also commonly used on Ford applications.

Yep on the windshield...no one uses tempeed glass there...safety glass aka laminated is what I meant...sorry.

The 350 info is correct too...if you get the engine and bellhousing and the correct input shaft/etc. you can put that in....

Are the motor mounts on the military 230 the same on the 350 Buick as well?

I am pretty sure the AMC 360 does not bolt to the stock 230 mounts.
