    Default radiator question

I have the late 6o's chevelle 396 radiator part no 289, for
my chevy 350. It seems in order to make it fit I'll need to cut the
two diagonal cross members so the radiator can sit lower and not hit
the hood. The radiator seems to be about an inch too tall. any sugestions.

    Thanks
    Jack

The easiest and bolt-in way to do a radiator in the M715 is to order a Jeep CJ/Chevy V8 conversion radiator. The hose outlets are all in the proper places and it bolts in without doing anything except redrilling the top two mounting holes about a 1/2" lower.

That, and it cools about 100% better than the original.....

i have the chevelle rad in my truck also. i had to remove the braces. it's my understanding that the braces help keep the frame rails parallel if the frame twists. also would be needed if you have a front mounted winch during times of hard pulls. i read that here on the zone somewhere. anyway, mine are removed and no problems as yet. the chevelle rad cools my sbc real well. it even allowed me to use the rad hose that came with the junk yard engine ('72 nova). i just had to cut about one inch off the water pump end of the lower hose. try to stay away from "flex" hose, they will let you down......al

I'm running the chevelle radiator in my 725, and I still have the slant braces. It's a tight fit, but the hood does close.

    Sorry about the double post.
I think what I'm going to do is cut the braces. I bought the
radiator about 6 months ago, kind of late for a return. Thanks
    for the input.
