    Post Painting the frame

Can anyone tell me what color the frame and running gear should be? It looks to have been painted black before. That just seems odd for a military truck. My MB was ALL OD, frame, axles, engine you name it.

Mine was black over factory OD green. When we stripped the frame it went black/OD green/primer/bare metal. The black looked field applied as it was rough and applied heavily. When I started the restoration, I found a spot under the bed where the black was flaking off to show the original od underneith. Here is a pic that I took of theat area. Outlined by the red circle.

Mine appears to have been black. Hard to tell since it had red over lime green over spotty od and black. All in poor condition with rust being the primary color. I wasn't investigating the paint closely while swapping my T-case recently but between the frame rails where gear oil from the T-case had protected the paint, it looked like black was the final layer before bare metal.

    Smile Thank You

Thank you guys. My frame looks about the same as Beast's. I'll probably just KBS the whole thing satin black and be done with it.
