Thread: Air Cleaner Issues

    Default Air Cleaner Issues

I have the stock carb-mounted air cleaner, and I am having a very hard time trying to get the thing to stay mounted to the carburetor. From what I can tell all of the parts are there, but for some reason I cannot seem to get the clamp tight enough to keep the air cleaner from falling off the carb. Has anyone else run into this issue? Just thought I would see if this was a common issue...

They can be tricky, especially if the lip on the air cleaner has gotten bent or smashed before. Also make sure you have the shaped rubber ring on the top of the carb, it helps hold the air cleaner and gives something to squeeze the cleaner against. Also make sure that you are going all the way over the lip on the carb otherwise as you tighten it up it will push it's self up and off the lip.

Thank you for the tips. I guess I wasn’t holding my mouth right yesterday when I was trying. Today I tried and got it first attempt. Next time I have it off I’ll inspect the air cleaner lip as you suggested to see if it’s been bent.
