Default Need help with a resistor for a NOS coil

I just smoked my second Chinese coil so I bit the bullet and bought a NOS coil. I noticed on the new coil it says to use an external resistor under coil. What are they talking about and where do I get one?

    Default Resistor

Don't know about anyone else here but I never saw just the round resistor for sale. The later coils had it built in.

I called Surplus City Jeeps and Saturn surplus and neither of them had one.
I was wondering if I would still need the resistor if I installed a Petronix ignition in it?

I learned a little bit about this from reading that.
    Thanks

I had to get an external resistor for mine to get the voltage input down to about 9v. Its been a couple of years ago and I don't remember the part number but I got mine at O'Reilly Auto Parts.

EDIT - I think it was a RU17 universal ballast resistor.
