ok, can someone post a pic on how the rear part of the tire carrier attaches to the frame? is there a bolt? or a catch? I do not have a hole in my frame where a bolt would attach? any help would be appreciated

On my bumper, below and right of where some idiot used a torch to rid of the pintle hook is a bolt hanging. That is where the tire carrier rests. The other end is the bracket just above and to the left of the pumpkin. Hope this helps...Ken
Hey Ken, is that you in the pic?
No, but we do have the same barber ; p
This was the 1st time I drove the truck back in November '09. I went around the block to a shop for a complete lubrication. The only changes since then noticable in the pic is a new exhaust system and tires. How do I fix that darn bumper/pintle? Guess I need an artist with a cutting torch and a welder.
Find a scrap frame with a good rear crossmember and replace yours with donor trucks.
So the carrier runs on an angle to the right side the pintle, I was thinking it ran straight back, I am assuming you need to tighten and loosen the nut to remove the hanger.
I will look for the hole in the frame when I get home.
Thanks
Duane
Actually its a bolt that goes in the frame...kind of long...think I have an imagine somewhere...maybe later I can post that...
Yes, it runs at the angle.
luckily, the hole is there and the threads are intact, anyone have the lenth of the bolt? if not I will figure it out when I put the tire up
Thanks for the pic and info
Duane
I think I posted those once...lets see...

Maybe someone else can measure for you...
I found a thread that has pics of an installed carrier...not the best but it might help...and this is with an oversize tire and the stock carrier is modified a little but it does how the basic idea.
