Have any of you CT guys registered your 715/725's? Im thinking about getting mine registered but I am missing some things, such as tailights. Do you have any idea of what is required by the state? I guess I can trailer it but the old burb' is really taking a beating these days...
The good news is that it got a whole lot easier to get them registered now. It use to be that you needed a full blown inspection for all used vehicles, MV or not. Now, all you need to do is get your VIN# checked. So get yourself a set of temps and insurance. FYI - temps don't last long these days so plan ahead. Then all you need to do is bring it in for the VIN# check. Be prepared to show them the number on the frame as they may not like your serial number on the dash as its removable. Not all DMV's do the VIN check, so check on their website where to go. I belive Bpt and Wtby do them. Although they aren't going to inspect the truck, they do give it a quick look over and can give you a ticket to have it inspected if they see something unsafe. They don't care about seatbelts, reverse lights,etc., but if there's a hole rotted in the floor, worn out tires, etc., your asking for trouble. If you have no tail lights at all that may cause a problem. If your still set up for 24V I have a set you can borrow if you need them or I have a really rough set you can keep that need some TLC. Once you get it registered, a cop can issue you an inspection ticket if he sees something he doesn't like and then you will need a full inspection and look out!
thanks alot, i may need to borrow those lights. I dont plan on traveling far just to the few offroad places in Newtown or to show it off.
I'd recommend tail lights, regardless of inspection requirements, just for safety. I don't have backup lights on my truck and I kind of miss them.
wait black out lights dont count as tail lights right??? i have those. im confused....

Those are the factory lghts.
The top part, larger red lens, are the "Service Tailights" for on road regular driving.
The lower part of those has a clear lens with black cats eyes behind, thats the blackout part.
