The rear disc. brake conversion is less than $400.00 I think. The front is quite a bit more. If I have issues with my rear drums I'll go disc back there too.

"The manual says that, "If a drum is reconditioned in this manner, either the correct factory-supplied, oversize lining .030" must be installed, or a shim equal in thickness to the metal removed must be placed between the lining and shoe so that the arc of the lining will be the same as that of the drum".
Is there anything wrong with using aluminum for the shim material?
Wow...hmmm...depending on the temp the brake gets to...if it hits 900 to 1000 the aluminum will be pretty soft...thats what they heat billet logs to in order to shove them through extrusion presses...
Not sure if the brake would get that hot though...
