vin # to add

Hey Brute, I have a couple of vins for your collection.
1st is from my 67 it is 15800 9 0f 67 wo/wn
The 2nd is from the one Binford just dragged home for me. It is a 67 but had no data plates, so no date. The no. on the frame is 18715. Seems high, but it is the same no. on registration and legal paper work going back to 80's. The truck appears to have been a wo/wn truck. Curious why a 67 would have such a high number. Thanks, Mike

They started at 10,000....8715 seems inline with a 67 without looking at the list.

Went ahead and checked the list for ya...highest SN for a 67 DOD truck to date is 18996, so you should have a 67 for certain.

Thanks for clearing it up for me guys....nothing I can really add to that...other than the
December of 67 trucks listed to date have VIN's from:
18363 to 18996
So looks to be a December truck to me...gotta love a Vin that ends in 715!!

Mike, I've got a stamp set of the right size so when you get a new set of data plates we can stamp the serial number and a 12-67 delivery date on there for ya....
Mike's first M715 is 15800 and mine is 15818. Anyone figure from the numbers how many might have rolled off the line per day? Could be ours knew each other back in Toledo. Or wherever the plant was....

Problem with making such an analysis is that the serial numbers, at least as far as we know, are usually in order...but the dates are not neccesarily so...remember these are DELIVERY dates not BUILD dates.
Some vehicles had special equipment and took longer to get built...like winches, high output alternator setups, radio kits, etc....
Also, the delivery may have been delayed due to needed a certain number of winch trucks in a group...or a certain number of hardtops or whatever...so a truck with a lower VIN with a winch may have been delayed in delivery for a few weeks or even months due to it taking extra time to build and then needing to wait for more winch trucks to be built to join in a delivery group...
Does that make sense?
The dates tell us delivery month...we can try to equate that to production dates but I think it would be guesstimate at best...unfortunately...

Cool Tim, Thanks. Oh, I should have your locking hubs off this weekend.
