Thanks Guys (in advance)

The old seal will have a number on it. Take this number to a decent parts store and they will find the correct seal.
The correct number is on this site several times over but I gotta get out before I can search and my notepad with parts numbers went missing somehow. I'm sure someone will wander by with the number though.

No sweat...wish I had caught it earler.
Boy am I glad you posted this thread!!! I pulled my right rear hub off and discovered everything was covered in a charred looking black greasy muck. The drum was literally dripping with gear oil. The shoes were s-o-a-k-e-d! So I pulled it all down to the part now where I need to take out the two nuts inside the hub. Was the size of the nut actually 2 1/2"? I measured as best I could with a tape measure but couldn't get a real good angle on the tape...
Before I go on here are there anymore hidden tricks to dissasembly/reassembly?
i would recomend reviewing the procedure in the manual especially for the specs and procedure for tigthening the nuts back. if you look inside the back of the seal lip there is a garter spring which keeps the seal tight on the shaft. when installing such a seal as you hit the seal with a tool the shock can sometimes pop that spring off and you may not see that an then have a leak still. so to prevent it coming off i place a dab of grease in about 3 spots in the back of the seal cavity there to keep the spring put.
The hub nuts are 2 9/16".
:confused::confused::confused:
I used the 2 1/2" hub socket, but it seemed a little too large, I suspect it is actually 2 1/4" - 2 7/16" at the largest, but I used the 2 1/2" and sloppy as it was, it worked.
George,
The grease on the back is a good tip!!
Good luck FNG,
Jeff
