steering box bolts,

what did everyone else use to remove the top steering box bolt? I've tried my 1/2" ratchet and 5/8 socket no room to work the ratchet. It is a fine tooth flex head. Stupid ?

I did my power steering conversion last year, as I recall that one tooka wobbly socket to remove. It wasn't easy, but it also wasn't that difficult. Soak the bolt with PB blaster at least 3 times over 3 days, it more than likely will come right out. Welcome aboard. Fisherman

Never mind going to try another ratchet a friend has. Says it works on fsj.

Fisherman, Thanks for posting,I needed the input. I can get it to move but only one click at a time. I don't have a "wobbly" socket, guess I'll go buy one for Fathers Day. Everything else is coming apart so easy, even the junk yard fsj box came right off! Guess I got lulled into thinking it was going to be easy!

Just figure everything is going to be a PITA and difficult. Use lots of PB blaster on rusted parts. You'll be surprised at how easy things will come apart. Fisherman

On mine I used a deep-well to get in there on the initial, but once you get it out a bit you need to change to a normal socket or you can't get it out. Not much room to work so I opened it up a bit with the old plazzzz-maaaa and now I can get an air ratchet in there just fine.

Thanks all. Got it out, NOW all I have to do is reinstall it. Looks like even more fun! This will get new bolts and washers for sure. NOT going to try this anymore than I have to! LOL!
