I am almost completely ignorant of this process, but this idea came to me the other day while obsessing on the life expectancy of my carb float.
I was sick for quite a while, I had LOTS of time to obsess on various things.
Is this 3D-print idea even remotely possible?

Holley 1920 floats should be out there. Chrysler Products used them in their 170/198/225 CID Slant Six engines.
Are they hard to find?
Unobtainium, it seems. I haven't seen them offered anywhere that sells 1920 parts or rebuild kits. If they're out there, I haven't found them.Quote:

The supply of tie rod ends for M715's seems to be almost gone, and the supply of 12v starters is pretty thin, so there you go.Quote:

Get Ditto2 silicone mold-making compound from Rio Grande, some 2-part urethane, and cast one. BigBlueSaw can supply one-off waterjet cutting for the bracket. That'd be fun origami!
I think I've heard of people using motorcycle tank coat to re-seal a waterlogged float...

No doubt, you are spot on. When I think of things from the past, it is as though they were a week of a month ago. I guess it was in the 70s when we went to a junk yard (as they were called then) that was owned by George Wise in Clarksville, MD. He was called, "Dollar George" because most anything was, well, a dollar! He had a pile of engines that were snatched out of the cars that were going to the crusher. Seriously, if those yards were still there, you could get an entire Holley 1920 and I too would bet that the early carburetors had brass floats.
Slant six, and ford 6 cyl. Engines were used on farm equipment as well, like swatters and haybines. I found a couple carbs at a tractor swap meet last summer, yes a little different linkages and other extremity parts but the floats and bowls are the same.....

The carb that the M715 uses was also used in a Ford van...the one I saw was a 1962...with the 144 cubic inch I6 motor. It had the same accelerator pump arm and everything...only other application of the Holley 1920 that I have seen that looks just like the military 230's stock carb.
Good luck finding it in a junkyard...
