M101 Trailer coupler question?

If I wanted to tow an M101 trailer, can the loop be removed and a standard trailer coupler be fitted to work with a standard ball setup?
Or should I just mount a pintle hook to my vehicle for this purpose?

I'm with BWB. Get a pintle on a receiver and tow away!
