I'm lookin' at a set of four 9.00 x 16 XLs, runflats removed, 40% tread and supposedly no weather checking. What do you think a fair price, mindfull shipping is not included?

That's a tough question. If I were looking at them and definitely needed some rubber for the truck, I'd give $70.00 max. a tire if they were close enough to pick-up.
This is considering that I don't drive the truck too often, so a 40% tire may last me a long time, and XL's aren't exactly easy to come by. Plus, the load rating on the Michelin XL's and XZL's is pretty dang high, which leads me to believe that they will provide a higher mileage life than a typical tire. A good new generic truck tire is at least $160/ea., and 40% of that is about $65.
Personally, I'd go to the local Co-op and buy some meaty Power Kings or similar for $175/ea. and then not worry about tires for a long time. The size your looking for is not as difficult to accommodate as if you were looking for 11.00-16 XL's.
I agree....before I spend big money on used tires, I will buy Power Kings 9.00x16 for $135 each and they are FRESH. They will last probably a decade or more before wathering/dry rot sets in.
Buying 5 year old Michelins in my opinion isn't the best option. I've had two tire guys who said that all Michelins start to dry rot/crack after a few years. Both guys sell Michelins and they said the same thing. One of my cars has Michelins, is garage kept with 12,000 miles and the tires are 8 years old. They all have the tiny cracks in the treads...no different that the two pairs of like new Michelin XL's that I saw in person.
Ok, but here's a better question. Has anyone ever heard of a 11.00 x 16 XL fail on a M715 or similar vehicle? I think that the XLs are a much better made tire than most of you give them credit for. The sidewall cracking is minimal on all of the XLs I have seen and looks to be more from the extremely thick sidewall flexing than from any sort of rot.
I'm with the Monster and Frankie. Check out some Co-op Grip Spurs or Mudders.
And Frankie, I think you worry too much about the XLs. ;)
GSA had some 100% new XZL's a month or so ago that went for $105.00 each. You had to buy 5, but figure $300 to ship to you and that should be your base price for Michelin's. With $150 each your top dollar for 80% or better tires.
I love my XZL's on the road, on the dirt and the amazing visual impact. I had a guy at my house yesterday dropping off some trailers. He is a semi truck driver that does nothing but move big military vehilces around the country. He kept looking at my truck and commenting on how great those tires looked. It is hard to impress a guy who shows up in an 18 wheeler, but the XZL's did it.
Would someone be kind enough to post a photo of an M715 with XZLs please?
I'm assuming that "GSA" is "Government Surplus Auctions"?
Look at my avator and here is a link to GSA.

GL is another good place to look.

Thanks for the links!
I'm not being rude, but I was hoping for a photo larger than 80 pixels to look at.;)
Yeah, I just read what I wrote and it is kind of a smart alek reply. Sorry about that.
Try these of my truck. Others have more of theirs.
