The door mirrors on the 715, are they round or square originally?
I had one mirror head on my truck when I got it and it was square and approximately 5X8 or so. It appears to have had OD on it under the black paint on it now.
All the pictures I see of original 715's seem to be round mirrors. Any thoughts?

Randy.........I bought a pair off of Ebay about 2 weeks ago.....they were rectangular....and matched exactly (right down to the nats ass) to what I had on my truck...that I assume were original......I give $39.00 for the pair and freight.......looked just tonight again.....and there is another pair on there now..........

I actually went to my local NAPA and found a set of mirror heads that look almost identical except they have four ribs stamped into the back for reinforcement. Once O.D. ed, they will look perfect.
I'll post up the part numbers tomorrow.

they are generally dated around 1986 or so....
I've got a dozen or so of them...picked them up on a deal months ago.
BUT as they are 20 years old, right outta the box they have a few reflective (mirror paint) spots falling of in side of them...
Is that 19207 part number from mil surplus or what?
The reason I ask is that the parts manuals for mil vehicles use both the Federal Stock Number and a Reference Number to Id parts...the Reference number is from the manufacturer of the part...like say Dana on an axle part...then, there is a code to tell what the source of the part is...a Federal Supply Code for Manufacturers...For the M715 family, it would be one of these:

Notice that 19207 is the manufacturer code for:
Army Tank-Automotive Command
This is a generic code for all the little things, misc screws, bolts, nuts, etc, AND for other things that are used on other military vehicles that werent purchased specifically for this vehicle but for widespread use across many military vehicles.
Basically I am wondering if you are misreading the Manufacturer code as the part number...
A 19207 manufacturer code is like saying misc. or undetermined...in most cases

I been reading them for the past several days but kinda hard carrying out to the fender.
I work on mil radios (Got a house full of them) and have volumes of cd's but just can't work on the radios without a beer and a manual in hand. I guess I'm old fashion, but like the manual with me when I'm working on something. Soooooooooo I get the manuals....
plus this is a keeper for me so I dont mind the investment
