Looks fine, but I don't see them listing a proper semi-gloss color for our years of vehicles.
I'm concern that they call it CARC paint. If it is true CARC paint I wouldn't touch it.
Why wouldnt you use the CARC paint?? The wear on the paint equipment??? I was thinking the CARC paint would hold up well and be easy to touch up. I'm not really going for 100% on this vehicle-I want to use it mainly off road. Guess I want to land more in the 70% original realm with the ability to put it back in the future if I choose. Beast are you talking about the color or just the gloss? Any suggestions for other paint choices?
CARC paint is very toxic right? Especially sanding off if I remember right.
Gillespie sells paint and Rapco???? There are people here who know a lot more about this than I. Help me out here guys.:D
CARC paint has known cancer causing stuff in it. It is an epoxy paint, but is not like commercial epoxy you would paint on your civy car or truck. CARC paint is so bad that the Army will not allow it to be sprayed unless the spraying person has a enclosed air system. i.e. resperator with air tank attached. Otherwise it must be brushed on. And sanding it one should wear a resperator. Also as a paint it IMHO sucks. It can crack and chip easily. It fades quickly in direct sunlight, and it doesn't do anything to slow or stop rust.
Get the Gillespie from Rapco and be happy!
CARC can be mentally equated with rolling in asbestos while smoking unfiltered cigarettes. It is really bad for you to breathe, touch or be around. You should pretty much be in a HAZMAT suit to sand the stuff.
The lead based paint our trucks came from Toledo with is like water based finger paint in comparison. You still can't take a bath in it, but simple precautions will keep that 6th and 7th finger from groing out of your wrist.
Rapco is who I bought my paint from and I would recommend them to anybody.
It all comes down to what you want your truck to look like. You just need to be aware of what you are getting into on some stuff.
OD green 34094 is not the right shade for our vintage of vehicles. Ours should be OD 24087 for Army vehicles and 24052 for Marine vehicles. But if you are not going for a resto then it does not matter about the color. CARC is very toxic whle being sprayed or sanded. I would not mess with it. Gillespie paints from Rapaco or Army Jeep Parts would be the best options. The Gillespie paint is very easy to work with and very easy to get great resualts with even if you are not a professional painter. Plus both places sell direct matching touch-up paint in spray cans. I have used the spray cans to touch up several spots on the deuce that have gotten scratches or banged and it is imposible to tell where I sprayed the the touch up. Also if you are going to use you truck alot off road, flat paints are not the best choice because the flat paints has a rough texture and is hard to clean afterward. The mud tends to stay in the little "nooks" of the flat paint and even after washing it looks dirty. The semi-gloss will wipe clean a lot easier.

One thing I wanted to mention is the vendor listed above in the original post states CARC on his website. The question is are his paint mil standard CARC paint or is he using the word CARC to mean camo GI paint? Like Xerox means photocopy or Kelenex means tissues. If it is GI CARC paint and he sells it to the military it meets mil specs etc. then I would stay away from it. If he means CARC in it's like the paint used in current issue then if that is what you are looking for it might be ok to use. Then again Army Jeep Parts and Rapco carry CARC colors (see I just did it...I mean modern current issue camo colors) as well as the restoration historical colors.
Yep, and at $28-$30 a gallon from Rapaco or AJP as compaired to $53.90 a gallon from that site.

Then again so doesnt just about every top notch durable paint out there.
I swear by epoxies and I've sprayed them for years. The chemicals are very toxic.
The Military use to love MEK until guys started twitching (more than normal).
The better(the paint) the badder(it is for you).
IMRON is as bad as it gets. I have sprayed cars, trucks and airplanes with it for years.
When painting like a pro you must protect yourself like a pro.
If you arent using the proper air supplied gear and clothing you are asking for bad health problems. If you dont like your wifes poodle keep him in the garage with you.
Some of the absolute best most durable coatings avail are right under your noses.
Most people have heard of Loc-Tite products IE: thread locker etc.
They make some of the most bullet proof durable (brushable) epoxy coatings for frames and high wear areas. Many of them have ceramic solids and resins.
I work in the water and wastewater business as well as restored vehicles for 23 years and enjoy testing out products like these.
As far as paint, I would just take a sample to the body and paint supply store and have them mix up some single stage urethane. They will add flattening agent to the finish you desire. No need to search all over for some special supplier. Anyone can mix up the color.
