Does anyone sell power steering pump brackets? So I don't have to spend a week designing them?
For the 230? If so, no...never seen anyone sell anything like that.
If for another motor, would need to know which one...
Many of us have made them over the years. However, we all did it different. Mine had already been converted to 12 volt and had some old Dodge alternator on it. I made brackets for the power steering and a Delco 12Si alternator at the same time.
Others that keep the multi belt 24 volt alternator have made theirs different. If you are doing that, I suggest a CUCV dual belt power steering pulley or a HMMWV 3 or 4 belt pulley/pump.
I wonder if there would be any demand for brackets if I design and make some?
Very low numbers, I would think. Most people keeping the 230 are going to for stock set ups that don't include a power steering.
My truck came with some home made brackets and GM pump. They quickly came off, NOS Stock steering gear went on and I love it. Pump, box and brackets went to the scrapper.
These trucks are not hard to drive you just need to get moving ever so sligntly and they steer just fine.
I would advertise at the http://www.ifsja.org forums too.
I have AC and power steering brackets for the 230 that came off of a wagoneer.
The civilian 230 used motor mounts at the very front of the motor...the power steering, if I remember it right, was built off that front motor mount bracket....there is nothing there on the military 230...dont think they will interchange if I do remember correctly.
Circling back here, years later. Did you make up a bracket, and if so, can you post a picture?
