I bought mine from ODcloth.com - weebee webbing.
Overall I'm happy though there was about a 4 week wait to get it. My biggest complaint is that something is amiss with the snaps and they are terribly difficult to snap/unsnap to the point that they rip out of the top if I'm not careful.
Chris
I've heard bad stuff about every top out there except the one from new life. So far, all I've heard about the New Life one is good stuff. I just wanted to hear it from an actual owner. A pic would be nie too.
ill try and get one tomorrow. bobby and i bought new life ones with the roll up backs. I STRONGLY reccomend a roll up back, if its hot where you live
Does new life have a web sight. how much are the tops?
I thought they had a website, but I was unabl to find it???? I found some conflicting contact info for them, here are two different addys I found.

I have done business with Judith at New Life Resources before. She does outstanding work. She took my ripped, shrunk, tattered 7 piece original top from my 51 cj 3a and made a perfect copy of the original. It fits and looks great. She is in Bakersfeild Vt. I just got into this 715 thing and already know she will make my top for it. As price, you will not find a more resonable price top for the quality. One thing is, she is very busy as she does all the work herself, be patient it is worth it. nlrm@together.net that is her email she does not have a web site.
I've heard good things about NLR. I know the wee-bees and well...my mommy always said if you can't say something nice....
Anyway some folks around here have gotten tops for other mvs from NLR and have said they do good work. Just my $.02 worth.
i forgot.... ill try again. i had some"issues" today......
judith also made me a canvas car seat cover for my son.
New Life did my top along with seat covers and full canvas for the back. You can't go wrong with them. I did get the bigger back window for visibility. I absolutely love their products. Good fit and I have to mention the waterproofness (is that a word?) of their stuff. I have slept in the back many times since I bought the canvas and in pouring Oregon rain the canvas never showed any signs of dampness on the inside at all. I would order again in a heart beat period.....Good stuff...
I will definately be getting the top from New Life. So I should order the roll up back top with the bigger back window.
OK. I'll call them and order it.
Thanks.
Bob
I just got an e-mail from New Life. Here's a copy:
Currently we're doing olive drab or black tops in the milspec canvas. We do
either the original style top for $250 including shipping, or a non-original
style with a zippered panel in the rear (like an M37 cabtop) and larger
window for $285 including shipping.
You can have a larger window in the standard top at no extra charge. Also,
we can make the cabtop from reinforced vinyl in civilian colors (black,
white, red, blue, green, tan, etc.). Our standard top uses simple "3 bar"
buckles for the 3 straps behind the seats. You can have spring loaded
"alligator clip" buckles there instead for no extra charge.
Attached is our price list for the M715. Lead time for a cabtop right now
would be about 2 weeks. Please let me know if you would like more info. or
canvas samples. Thank you for your interest in our canvas!
Sincerely,
Judith Peach
Co-owner

I am thinking of getting the black mil spec canvas zippered back top with the large rear window. Does anyone here know if the aligator clips are better than the 3 bar clips?
Also does anyone here have the vinyl top from them? If so how does it compare to the canvas top? I really wanted a tan colored top due to the summer heat here but I'm not sure if vinyl would be a good thing. Opinions?
New Life Rocks!
Picked up the rollback top and seat back covers. I didn't need the bottoms as they were new. No problem any seat component was $21.50
As far as I am concerned service was second to none! They even mailed samples of the canvas for the tops and seats. I'll look for the price list it's around here somewhere.
I found my top to be a little loose BUT I have not gotten it wet yet and I am told It will shrink when it dries.
Other that that every snap ligned up perfectly.
I highly reccomend them.
Just to add one more plug for NLR, I purchased a modified M170 top for my CJ-6 and I love it. MUCH better quality than the crappy Bestop junk, and at an equal or lesser cost. I will buy all my canvas from New Life.
They are sending me a sample of the black canvas and tan vinyl tomorrow for comparison. I am going to most likely get the black canvas one. I may even keep the stock seats and get some matching covers for them.
Thanks for the help.
Anyone have a recommendation as to where to get all the bows for the soft top?
Stan
I got the samples in the mail. I am sure I will get the black mil spec canvas with the zipper back, big back window, and alligator clips on the straps. The vinyl top material is way too thin for me.
One question for everyone who has one from NLR. Did you canvas stink?
The samples they set me smell so bad I had to put them inside of a zip lock bag then inside another bag to keep them from stinkin up the house.
Is this normal and does it go away?
Bob
Stink how? Like water proofing? Most new canvas that is treated has a smell or oder to it. But once you have it out on the truck in the weather the smell goes away. Take one of the samples and soak it in the sink and then dry it out and see if the smell goes away. That will tell you if the canvas will stay stinky or goe away. Or throw it out side for a few days and see what happens.
I refer to it as "New (military) car smell"!
Be gratefull rubberized nylon like tents and groundsheets smell like old Vomit!
New canvas smell is awesome! It will fade but not terribly quickly though.
Chris
I got my new top just after X-Mas. I closed the box, brought to the wife, told her to close her eyes, I then opened the box and told her to take a deep breath. Her reply, get that out of the house thats dicusting.
She thought it was a gift for her. hehehehehe
How did NLR get the top in such a small box
new canvas smells GREAT
Thanks for all the info guys...Just ordered on e from NLR..Decided to get rid of the duct tape and blue tarp..5years it has served its purpose and its $32.00 investment. :D
Does New Life have a web site??
I'm 4 or is it 5 years with full canvas with seat covers. The smell is just now barely noticeable. When I would drive the m715 to work people would scoot away from me in meetings because of the smell. I put a towel on my seat for work stuff. I just got two gallons of CANVAK from Cabelas which is what Judith at NLR uses. Soon I will be reeking again. I love it. See my post about Canvas the Ultimate authority. Judith recommends it highly... I must add that my canvas still shows no signs of getting wet or damp inside in a strong Oregon rain. I'm redoing the M715 and doing the cab canvas on the Duece cause it really needs it. The Duece that is...
CANVAK is what the military uses to waterproof their tents. Good stuff!
I was speaking with a, some-what athourity of military vehicles. and the topic of tops came up. He saying that Beachworks canvas is nicknamed "Bleach works" because it rapidly fades in the sun.
I was wondering, if anyone with a NLR top has noticed this over the years?
Not really worried (if it's sunny there is no reason to have the top up)
Just like to go back to the "know it all" and say HA! NLR don't do that.
Although anything will fade in the sun eventually.
Just got my Canvas samples(for the truck I don't even have yet.Ha!) from New Life Resource and I am ordering the Black Canvas w/ zippered back window. Judith Rocks! 2 days and the samples are in my hands!

here is TWO NLR tops with roll up backs, need better pics? email me. the one on the army truck is almost 1 year old, never garaged and if you notice, its as tight as a drum, and i dont notice if its faded
mine is one year old, JUST installed thats why its loose. i sprayed it with water to get it to shrink and am leaving it outside, although it will be parked in covered parking.
