Scroll Bars on some screens?

Scroll Bars on some screens?

I get a wide screen with horizontal scroll bars when logged in and viewing "Online Maintenance Manuals", "Galleries", "Vintage Power Wagons Price List", and "Links" pages. This does not happen on the "Forums" and "Galleries" pages.

Using IE 6.0 at a screen resolution 1152 X 864.

The only difference I see, in this area of the source code, is the two commented-out lines of code below:

--background="/vb/images/heavy_metal/hm/heavymetal_splashcenter01.jpg" > </td>

If I understand the information presented in the article linked below, the double-dash "--" is a switch between allowing the ">" as text in a comment line or treating the ">" as an End Comment delimiter.

I believe this line of code below is being ignored and considered a part of the comment line above it because the comment line terminator ">" is considered text.

Each time a double dash is encountered, it changes the format between allowing, and not allowing the > characters to be inside the comment:

Sorry guys I really don't look for this stuff – it just jumps out at me when paging around for other reasons.

It was setup so that I had to reduce the screen width all the way down to where I started to get iside the margings of the flag logo to get a horizontal scroll bar...like 200-300 pixels.

Now, the flag logo is larger and the 3 truck banner is doubled in the vertical direction...see image:

Still scrolling and I did a reload to make sure it is not cached.

Might be this line

Ok, fixed, I think.
It 'should' auto-resize the image, and basically just cuts off the right hand portion of the image as you shrink the page size.

Yes it cuts off but is still large like brute4c showed.

The main page is much smaller and cut off at a different place.

Dang it guys!

Didn't mean to cause a wild goose chase here.

Just out of curiosity when you get time, does vBulletin provide you with a code generating screen builder?
Do you use some sort of web autoring tool like Front Page or do you edit the code directly with an editor like Notepad?

Maybe all of the above!!

It originally scrolled only on the flag logo part.

Then it scrolled on both the flag log and 3 truck banner, if I tried to narrow the screen.

Now it seems back to how it was at first...

Had some time to play with this...works just like on the front page of the site now for me...Amphi, does the Online Manuals page work without the horizontal scroll bars now for you?

I still get scroll bars.

I have nothing like toolbars or anything to make my screen display narrow.

Don't want to send you guys off on another tangent here but it seem like the container table is wide by a few pixels.

Main Page and Photo Gallery look ok like this:

Can someone else using MS Internet Explorer please test this?

It might be something local to my computer like screen size.

I'm set to 1152 x 864 Screen resolution
Highest (32 bit) Color quality

I get a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom when viewing the "Online Manuals" and "Galleries" etc.

Please let us know.

Ok, looking at it in IE8, I have the Galleries working without the scroll bar now.
Manuals is better, but not done.

Ok now!

No scroll bars now but the right top menu option screens (the ones you worked on) are slightly wider than the first two.

Wider might be better as it allows for nice full screen viewing.

I think, looking at it in my IE....it may be the tabe at the top is too wide and so the image spreads over farthe...I am gonna edit the page here in a minute to change the table...we shall see if that helps...

It was the header that was doing the first part.
Then the table inside doing the second.

Amphi, the Navbar menu at the top is VERY hard to change when using it on those custom pages like that. So yes, having the more narrow screens below it works best.

The top image is a little narrower than the nav bar...well the whole page following that too...but it doesnt have any horizontal scroll bar on this end.
