I don't know about 715s, but with the cars I am used to playing with its pretty common to have to replumb and relocate the turbo when doing an engine swap. Are you trying to keep it in stock location?
yes, i think that im just going to modify the fender insted of the manifold and turbo. the turbo dosnt stick out far, and its far from any tires
I'm not suggesting this but speaking of plumbing for turbos... On tv I recently saw a twin turbo kit installed on a Corvette. They removed the enormous stock mufflers and in their place installed turbos. In the end, no mufflers and 650hp! This got me to thinking that turbo locations are limited to only the imagination.
Or space for plumbing the boosted air back to the engine.
not to mention the risk of them getting hit with a rock when your out wheeling.... its a good idea, i seen one guy do it to a silverado seems to work very well
well lastnight i figured that i can try my body work skills out and get this fender out of the way, so i used a body hammer and a rubber mallet to get it done untill i got tired and grabbed a sledge hammer. it worked out well, after i beat it with the sledge i used the body hammer to smooth it out. anyways this is what the overall product is

You did a good job....just taking the pics must have been a challenge!
Nothing a little kinetic energy can“t fix ;)
Are you happy with it? Does it work? If you can answer yes to both questions then good job and run with it.... :)
so far so good. it dosnt quite run yet. but it will ha... so far im happy with it. the turbo definetly filled it up under the hood. looks like it should be their to me. i took more pic's tonight. i sprayed the well with some undercoating.

the crack in the well is looking at me funny. but i think ill leave it for now.
can still see some hammer marks. and the undercoating is still wet during this pic.

So, I know this is reopening a really old thread, but... I've been searching the web and the zone for longer than I'd like to admit. I'm looking for any other pictures or solutions for making the turbo fit.
Anybody else care to chime in? Thanks!
That's going to be sweet when you're done!
Foodstamp, what radiator are you planning to use? I ask because I plan to make custom frame horns for mounting the engine in mine(my originals were butched by the po). Since you're having a little fitment issue, I wonder if mounting the engine a little higher or forward would help. Looks like there would be almost no room for the radiator though. Your thoughts?
Just a reminder... this thread was last updated in December 2008 until I resurrected it... but still, I'm hoping foodstamp will chime in.
Oddly enough Foodstamp, creator of the Zone Uberthread, hasn't been here at all for six weeks...
Since March 3rd to be exact...
sorry i left you guys hanging here, im going through looking at the old threads, and just seen this... almost a year or so later.
for a radiator i used a 70's chevy nova 3 core clamp in style i cut the old radiator mounts off, and where the front clip bolts to the frame i welded in a piece of 3 inch channel for the bottom mount. the radiator endend up being a little tall, and the cap actually hits my hood, ill have to find a shorter radiator or maybe shorten the tank so the filler cap will clear, but in the mean time its working well, and my hood will still close all the way.
the pullys are about 3 inches away from the radiator so im running a electric fan from a ford tarus. it keeps the motor cool, i have a 190 thermostat and it runs between 160 and 190, hasnt peeked over that yet. ill try to get some pictures of it tomorrow
this is what i found tonight, ill see if i can get better ones tomorrow still
