So when you had the truck running and driving with the 6bt how did it stop with the 2.5 ton rockwell drum brakes on all four corners? I read futher back in the build you were wanting to go to disc wheel brakes, any particular reason for this?
It stop real nice. Good brake modulation but had to change the master for a bigger one because it was braking but not enough in emergency situation with the stock oem unit. Why i want to upgrade .... only to have better brake ( you never have too much brake with a big truck ) I have some parts for my disk brake conversion but need to get another 2 galipers and found a massive hat rotor so i can fit a real heavy duty system .... but as you can see right now my priority is to have the truck back on the road
Quick week update ....
The SAE adapter is almost finished ... need to tap 10x 3/8 holes but only 2 is needed for the first test fit.
Also i'm working with a buddy to have a custom built clutch with twin disk and heavy pressure plate made. They are VALAIR's distributor in Canada so they are looking to make a 14" clutch kit for the spicer 3053.
First try this morning ..... PERFECT fit !! Just need to countersunk for the M10 bolts and paint it .... Hope to bolt everything together next weekend.

Nice job--now hurry up and get it back together!:)
Gonna be awesome!!
Just finished the counterbore of the adapter. It may not look like that but it's more time consuming then what i was expected. But now the adapter is done and i'm still waiting for clutch news ..... The M715's going to my friend shop in around 3 weeks to have the powertrain and the airbags plates installed.

Last fit and everything's perfect.

Have order the clutch assembly. Made by Valair .... rated to 750 pounds of torque 14" stamped steel ceramic .... it's essentially the same as a fuller 14" but ceramic instead of organic. They can make me a real one with dual clutch that will handle 1200 + .... but it will be too expensive for now. The priority is to have the truck running.
Have the 4" tubing , elbows and t bolts to finished the snorkel assembly and the exhaust.
My laser cut airbags plate just went in.
Order a 1g air tank be me modified for my hydrolic setup.
So the truck will soon be moving again .... soon !!! :D
What's the estimated HP/TQ on the new Cummins?
right now without any mod .... 230hp/605 TQ
Do you plan on bumping both those numbers up?
Not bad at all for stock though.
For sure .... will add new injectors and remove the fuel plate .... I also have some parts for the alcohol injection .... for this year i will stay with the stock setup .... because i will need to get a twin disk clutch and it's expensive in 14" version. I better choose exhaust brake before upgrading the engine.
just got a bed tent ..... not exact fit but will do the job.

I have to make an aluminium "false floor" for the base .... and this will keep any snow in.
BTW .... i'm on vacation for the next 10 days .... guess what i'll be doing ???
Sleeping with your truck????
This is what the engine look like after some work on it on my first vacation's day.

what year is that motor? 1st generaion?
The Cummins looks good with the fresh coat of paint!
Be sure to get some pics of your engine mounts on the frame, I need some ideas for mine when I get to that point.
here's what i got this morning ......
A 65 pounds Cummins 14" flywheel
Air tank be be converted to oil reservoir
4" silicon elbow for the snorkel
Air hoses and fittings for the bags
And new pedal rubber from Saturn Surplus

The truck will get into the shop tomorrow afternoon ... but i didn't received my Valair custom clutch  So i will need to get the tranny out a second time ....
Guess what ..... ?

Pics to come .... Good news and bad news also ............. :D
Better snorkel pictures .... i paint the snorkel semi gloss black but next year i should repaint the entire truck ... including bumpers and snorkel in OD.
Made with 4" exhaust tube ( mandrel bend ) and tig welded.

And this is a side shot with 3" of body lift.
http://www.rockcrawlerquebec.com/kam...5side3body.jpg
So the good news .... everythings fit together. The bad news ... i will have to sell my 14" flywheel because after talking to the Valair clerk ... i will need to order the 1100 pounds of torque twin disks clutch assembly and it come with a specially design flywheel. My flywheel is good but since the truck is heavy and i will try to touch the 1000 pounds mark .... i have to buy the heaviest duty clutch possible.
Why did you have to increase your body lift?
Snorkel looks good!
a pic of me with the M715 ....

That is one tough looking truck and man!

I see here that you made a lot of progress since my last statement to this subject. And you are still trying.
My project is now in the seventh year of running and it works after 17 000 miles and many adjustments, so that I can say I'm at the same state of reliability as I was before I started the second restauration of my M715 in 2002, when the truck was running dfor some 20 years without bigger problems with the old Hanomag engine (65 hp).
I think, the most important is to get the truck to a state of reliability to go on a meeting (150 miles or 500 miles ) without the fear of a breake down. This is what counts for my restaurations and modifications. I do not need the best possible M715, for there are limitations in the German road regstry. But I use them to the upmost extend to built my truck the way I need it. For me my 6.2 l Diesel modification is what fits fine with acceptable fuel consumtion (even for German prices, a gallon of diesel here is actually some 9 US$, I'm at 12 mpg.)
Wolf
nice seats
What kind of air filter setup do you have ? Is it waterproof ? Is the fording pipe just for show ? I have a 6bt in mine and i am having a hard time finding a good place to keep my filter from getting muddy and wet. Hey wolf, my 6bt is getting 15 mpg and goes like hell !
The fording pipe is really fonctional .... goes into the cab and back in the engine bay throught 4" silicone elbows then to air box and then to the turbo with more piping and silicone fittings. sorry but since my truck is not at home, i dont have any pictures. Everything in 4". BTW dont worry about any shinning parts .... everything will be painted flat black before taking the road.
This is the air box from Spectre Performance --) Aluminum; 4 in. Inlet/Outlet; 10 1/8 in. Length; 5 in. O.D.

Nice...
Any updates on this beast. I remember yours and a couple of other being my inspiration to buy one a few years back. I learned alot from that one that I will not repeat. I am at a point now to be able to build one properly and thought I had it nailed it down as to what I wanted but after catching up on this thread I may have changed my mind. LOL
Still working but had to built 3 houses this summer so i dont have much spare time on the truck. Also waiting for my custom clutch from Valair, as soon as the clutch get in, i'll start working on the truck ( still have 2 weeks off in reserved ) My friend at Drivetech fired his partner ( long history ) and i have to give him some times to get his work done .... so working on customs steerings parts and doublers. Have to finish a JK with volvo portals 4WS axles and range rover with portals Have lot of work and will try to keep working and finished the truck before the first snow.
I have in stock all my steering components ( PSC 1.75 ram assist )
New tie rod with lifetime warranty Moog TRE
The radiator for the water/air intercooler is installed ( under bed )
Front end had to be cut for better fittment of the radiator and 18inches fan
Belt tensioner relocated to clear the lower hose
Mechanical fuel shut off control ( in dash )
I only have 6 hours a week and have been raining for the last 3 weeks ... so really small progress !!
Next big improvement is to cut the firewall to make place for the 4 inches downpipe
