A drop-in update ..... 45 tons anchor shackle. I had to downsized .300" the diameter of the pin because it was just too big for the rear receiver.

lol holy crap dude heh nice :D
I just went down to P.A. and get 6 tires ..... they are almost new 14.00r20 XL. The M715 AND the trailer will received their new summer tires soon. I had a deal that cannot be refused. Pics to come later next weekend.
I just drop them at my father garage. I have 4 with 95% + of treads and two others with 85% of treads for the trailer. Sorry for the crappy picture; cellular shot.

Mmmmmmmmm, I can almost smell the rubber from here........:D
the install of the tires will have to wait .... i just blowed my engine. Dont know how it happens but the cam look grinded. The truck just died on the highway about 5 miles from home. So i'm looking for a newer engine with the NV4500
Ouch. That stinks. What are you going to put in it?
Same engine but with the newer inline pump and manual tranny .. so i'm looking for a 96 + Ram 3500 4wd manual / diesel
If you are looking for a 5.9 cummins with a P7100 pump then its 94 to 98.5 in the Dodge Rams. 89-93 was the VE pump, lines in back in a circle, 94-98.5 was the p7100 pump, lines inline, 98.5-02 was the VP44 pump, lines in back with electronic control.
for now i really dont know what happened but i may change only the camshaft if everything seems find when i opened it. In case of changing everything ...
AWESOME build man!!!! Been wanting an M715 since I was a teenager and now that I'm able I'm on the hunt. Your build really inspires me a lot, love it, keep the pics coming!!
Thanks .... if everything work fine by this weekend i will be able to post nice pictures of the truck with his new tires and the engine fix.
I do not want to start a new discusion. Here we would call it something like a silouhete truck.
However, a very nice work with a final success so far. And probably better than something stock for your need and desires.
Sometime, when I did read me today through the posts, I smiled for the problems were to be expected. But you managed them so far! Congretulation!
And for the further modifications and plans: Bonne change!
Wolf
quick update .... i worked this morning on the engine. Broke the cam in two , 9 tappets seized and 9 pushrods bend. Dont know why this happens and i will not change the parts. I'm looking for an entire dodge ram with the NV4500. Hope the next engine will be more reliable then this one ..... start to be expensive changing the engine each 2000 kilometers.
So i will be selling the engine as it and the complete auto tranny with the Lokar shifter and kickdown with all the lines and the big aluminium cooler.
In the meantime ... i will at least get the big rubbers installed and clean everything for the next powertrain.
here's the carnage

Looks like you were victim of the dreaded "killer dowel pin" issue. They can do the same damage. here is a link for the repair kit..

yep !! the KDP was already fixed. I may have been the victim of the jeep's gremlin !!!
i found one this afternoon !!! From a school bus ... stock engine with 230 hp. The truck will be running again very soon !!!
Just finished the two front tires .... for sure i will need another 3" of suspension lift to keep the tires vs the body with a nice gap

Man oh man is that thing burly!
What minivan?
i will post more pics by this weekend with all tires installed
Looking really good!
What springs are you running to get the current lift you have and are the new tires around 48" tall?
Could have been the camshaft plate retaining bolt(s) They can be loose andhave done that before. Then it takes out the lifters and tappets just like that. Whether a Harley or Cummins, if it shakes alot, locktite and double check everything.
Thats a bummer. Glad you found a motor quick.
Beautiful truck, clean, clean!!
Out of curiosity how much clearence do you have between the bottom of the oil pan and the top of the rockwell? Even though it was kinda forced good move to go back to the std trans...breaks my heart when I see an automatic Kaiser....Keep up the good work, looking forward to more posts...
Only custom spring perchs with springover ... and yes they mesured 49" tall
But to get nice gap i will need to get 3" more lift and bumpstop, this is why i will relocate the shackle in the rear and reversed in the front. Then recenter the rock center in the wheelhouse and install additional lift using airbags.
Thanks ..... i never mesured it but i will take some mesurment for you this weekend. For now i will keep the auto because the new engine was not really need this month so i'll have to wait to get the NV ( found a complete swap for $1500 ) but i will need to get a new input and fit the 205 to the nv.
It's fun automatic but standard give always better feelings. And the Nv will took the abuse of 1000 pounds of torque.
The cam bolts dont have to come out. They can get loose and allow the cam to walk or drift. When that happens, usually a pushrod will wander off the lobe and the chain reaction starts. You get bent pushrods and tappets.
It may have been something else but that is the most common problem for the carnarge described. Another P pumped 715......Im excited for you!!!
What plans do you have for the motor? Are you going to pursue 1000 ft/tq?
the engine already have 700 pounds of torque .... so with a fuel plate, injectors and fuel pump springs those numbers will easilly be reached. My friend have the same setup and his dodge's able to drift anytime on dry pavement.
Dont you love the stooooopid power you can make with these for little cost!
New tires installed ..... and doesn't stick too far out of the body !!! And a poser shot with my little BMW

Nice job on the entire truck. I've really enjoyed your build and have always been impressed with your vision and drive.
These new tires are cool and it is nice that you have what you want. To me though these tires just went over that too-big line. The last set was still small enough to follow the line of the fender flair but these make the truck look like an ornament for the tires. I'm not criticizing your choices, this is your truck. I'm sure that you would think that mine was too under-done. It is just that when tires get this big the body of the vehicle starts to look like it doesn't belong, like it is too small for the overall picture.
Again, not really a criticism, just not to my taste. You do really have a great truck!
Truck looks great!!!!!:worship:
I think once he gets the other 3" or so of lift it will look even better, right now the tires are too close to the body IMO.
I really think it will look nice when it gets a few more inches of lift. I had the same tires for a while. I switched to the 46 XML's so I wouldn't need any more lift. Looking forward to hearing about how it drives. You will have plenty of torque to turn them thats for sure.
thanks ....... and yes right now the tires look too big but with extra lift they will fit right in.
BBM715 --) that was also my first impression ..... over that too-big line but the rear fit better then the front. I even think about 2" body lift up front and maybe drop a Deuce tranny instead of the Nv4500.
spgirard30 ---) i have try the 395 and the 12.00r20 and they were nice but i really want to have those XL treads. I may have choose other size but 15.5/80R20 or 14.75/80R20 are impossible to get used and cost $800 each new. So the 14.00 were chosen because of what they look and price but effectively they are bigger then expected.
I will need first to get the new engine in , then a ram assist steering and then i will work on the suspension. With extra lift in front i may reverse the front shackle for better handling and give an extra inch this way.
