Time for some updates. Got the new ring and pinion set up. I will say that it is very feasible IF you have the tools and patience. It is time consuming but I didnt think it was terrible.

Oh yeah, the yokes are 1410 machined to use u bolts instead of straps.

Dial indicator read the backlash at 0.007 when done. Spec is 0.006-0.010

And the housing spreader. I was able to get the carrier out of the housing without the spreader but was thankful for it with the new bearings and races on!

In the above picture, the ring or collar my thumb is near is the spring loaded collar that locks the axle. A (for lack of better terms) transmission fork looking apparatus built into the differential cover slides over the collar. The fork is on a linear track so engagement is inline with the collar movement.
More pics on that when the axle gets buttoned up the rest of the way. Just have to put the new 35 spline outers and new ujoints in. Mount up the drive flanges and the axle is done until hydro assist.

It is a Borg Warner HT3B tubo. They are typically found on motors such as Cummins N14, etc.....Semis!
This will be the big charger in the compound setup. For now, I am going to regulate the boost to 60-65psi. Id rather get the truck done than save more money for a bigger clutch (mine is rated for 550 HP now!), 1 3/8 input for the 4500, o ringing the head. I am using ARP headstuds. It sould be suicidal not to. So Ill live in the 500 horse world until $$$ frees up for petty things hahahah:happy10:

Nah....Im just applying my own personal preference and touches. Thats the neat thing about these trucks, they are so few in number, any slight variation makes it a one of.
Thanks for the nods....it is a little excessive. It used to be cheaper than therapy, but Im having second thoughts about that logic now hahaha
I have been following your build for a while and aways look forward to the "next" post. It looks like the dream build to me. I have owned gas and diesel trucks (currently own an 07 Dodge - Cummins 5.9 Mega Cab 4X4) and in my humble opinion, a diesel can not be beat for power and economy. Mine is more of a budget build for now, but seeing yours gives me something to save for eventually. It is a great build plan. Hopefully, everything will survive the BIG power.
Inspiring...well thats awful nice of you. My friend got me into the diesels when I had a 1980 J10. I bought it with a 6.2 already in it. It had dana 60s, th400 and a divorced 205. He threw in a 4B with about 275hp 600ta and we added a nv4500 and d300 while retaining the 205. I loved it. Got a chance to sell off everything and buy 2 715s and a complete 95 dodge cummins.
All my friend does is Cummins conversions for a living. He should have motor mounts for our trucks after this conversion to help some others along should they decide to go this route.
It will survive the power. I am overbuilding everything I need the first time. Not to say you cant break it cause you can, whether it be stock or wild it can be broken. Common sense and proper planning will keep me on the road and out of a garage bay.
I know you had talked about making your truck an expedition vehicle. What are your plans for the body/interior, etc?
