another updates for this year ....
Find a military ammos case , fit like a tool box bolted in the bed of the truck. Will worked on heater ducts solution and also found what the call Batteriy Equalizer made by Vanner model 65-60. Very special that use the 24v and 12v and equalize the current and voltage between thems. Here's some explains .... I have installed 12v heater and fans ... plugged them only on ONE of the batteries .... so i have kill them since they were not very in shape ... so with the equalizer .... it took each batteries and make sure that when you are asking 12 volts on only one ... that the second batterie also drained equally .. so if you need like 12V 10A ... they took 5A from each batteries. And this is made to be charged on 24V .... very special !! I had this thing that someone give me this summer ... supposed to cost around $750 cdn.
So need this thing installed by this weekend and yesterday installed one new battery ... Optima ... one red top and one yellow top. I already installed a yellow top this automn and the price got inflated by 40% ... so get a red top ..almost $100 less then my yellow one.
Will post some pictures next year !!! :D
If you want to take a look at this .... http://www.vanner.com/client/images/..._Equalizer.pdf Battery Equalizer - 60, 65, and 66 Series
Stop to weight the truck this morning .... tank full with some tools and recovery straps .... 7430 pounds to be exact .... This weight a lot more then what i was expecting.
Some quick updates ..... 6bta should be in there very soon. Also waiting for some good news and having some money left ... will give a call to the Ouverson guys. Looking to ordered 2 lockers and a set of casted front locking hubs.
And still looking for a 4 wheels disk brake conversion using Ford F550 caliper and bus rotor.
I'll try to get some good pictures of the engine swap as soon as the swap started !!!
The powertrain is at the shop .... had yesterday to unbolted everything , pressure washed and painted semi gloss black. Now waiting for the engine goodies and must do the KDP mod.
This is how the powertain was looking last week

This is the triple cable from NorthWestFab in Canada
http://www.northwestfab.com/images/P...cablestand.JPG
I read on a setup about first gen cummins and i should be pushing 34 pounds of boost with that setup.
Sorry for updated pics .... next week only !! Forget the camera yesterday :(
Northwest fab makes some nice stuff. i think they where having trouble with those cable shifters in the past, but i think they got it all cleared up. looking forward to pictures
Ryan
Yes they were having bad cables which broke .... everithing if fixed now. I got mine custom made with 15" shifters ...
That shifter is cooooool!!!!
here's some updates ..... Had to repair the tranny since the park was not working. Tearing all apart to replace a $2 spring ... 5 hours job. Had to open also the Np205 for the twin stick .... inspect everything, grinding the rail and installed the cable shift system from NorthWestFab. The engine is now ready to fired up, the dpk is done and a new strap and configuration have been done to remove all unnecessary accessories.

The swap begin this friday the 13th
where is the Power steering pump? still like the shifters. NWF makes some nice stuff.
i also spy a dana 60 on the rack
ryan
The power steering pump is at the lower left on the engine beside the vaccum pump and gear driven ... so it's why you don't see any pulley for it. Got some diffs everywhere in the shop ... from Rubicon D44 to custom 609 ........
HEre's some updates ..... the cummins is going on the right way. I should heard it by the end of tomorrow. This is a 4 days project. In the first pic ... i was test fitting the two heat exchangers ... one for the oil and the other for the water intercooler. Also have a shop make me a new dash plate .... Keep looking at least for the three remaining days for updates ......... and enjoy !!!

Wow.... :worship:
I'm wiping the drool off the screen and keyboard as I type this. Very nice!!!
The custom dash is on his way ...... have it heard yesterday !! There's a small video of the startup with a 12" straigh exhaust.
http://www.rockcrawlerquebec.com/php...o/MVI_2271.AVI
Just for reference...that video is 531 meg...
You are a certifiable mad man. It's not drool I'm wiping off the screen.
Excellent build Luc.
Great video...speaking of brutes....man, that sure is one!
I love the front bumper....kinda a upgraded retro style. What's the hole on the drivers side for? steering box?
Everything runnig and working fine. It's a thight fit. Had to install the fan outside of the engine bay ... but it worked just fine. Got the governor spring and power pin installed yesterday and have the fuel power screw turn another 2 turns. Exhaust is straight with a 3" down pipe going to a 4" all the way up to the end. Had a shop fabricated a plain dash panel .... i wanted to keep the stock looking dash ... so i installed VDO electric gauges that match the stock ones ... with addition of new switches.

good job. glad to see it back on the road. and that was FAST. you are a speedy Son of Gun
i hope that fan isn't you only cooling fan. if so i imagine you may have some issues when working that 6bt. also it appears that the fan is not up against the radiator, if so that will greatly reduce its effectiveness. on the road i doubt you have any issues unloaded, but going slow or putting a load on it i bet the temp guage starts to climb. hope it doesn't work this way and everything is fine for your sake though
Ryan
for now i dont have any heat issue ... but this is the 12" fan that need to goes between the rad and the engine. Another hi performance 14" Zirgo pushing 3000 cfm will be bolted in the front to replace the smaller one. In the pic, i'm missing the water intercooler radiator .... the same dimension as the lower one ... and like the rad by itself ... 3" thick. After that , the two fan will be against the rad. The only real issue is the way to cool it with the fans ... or could have fixed that if i had cut the firewall.
Also a stock 6bt is not really enough for driving the truck ... with all the upgrades now i can have fun driving on the street. With everything installed on the truck i should weight around 8500 pounds ... and picking up my canadien M104 trailer that weight another 2400 pounds .... So the 6bta will be just fine .... with an empty trailer.
Btw .... i have worked 12 hours a days for 10 days to complete the swap with at least 40 hours of good help. And everything used on the swap was high quality and try to build with parts easilly availaible at any auto parts.
Next will be to installed my rear winch and saving to buy two ARB rockwell lockers for it. In the meantime i will finished the water intercooler installation and alcool injection .... and the cooling fans before those hot days started.
Still some fun to comes ...............
Week end purchase ........ Canadien M104 with combat wheels complete with an almost new tarp.

On My M715, i just had ti installed another radiator under the bed because the cummins was running too hot in traffic. Now with another one and dedicated fans , even in very hot weather jammed in highway traffic the engine never see more then 190 degree !!!
Here's a video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScKbmnUb8Ew .... sorry i forget to add sound !!
What a great looking "set"!!!
Wow....what an awesome build.
I'm considering using the same motor, 6bt, for my M 715. If you were to do it all over again would you have cut the firewall to make more radiator clearance?
Anything else you would have done differently?
Excellent work...definitely top notch fabrication
Yes , the best way is definitively to get an extra 2 inches back to keep the stock fan or just drop a non intercooler engine and move the rad a good 3 inches and you wont have any problems. I would have installed it back maybe an extra half inch and maybe the stock fan should have been use ..
I may try next year relocating the rad cooler under the truck and move the rad like i should have done it first .... reinstalling the stock fan and all those other coolant rad could be under the bed ...
thanks
