Seriously, the 1968 and 1967 models that we had were all equipped with air cleaners mounted on the carburetor. The 1969 models that we had (in Germany since that is where I was) all had hood mounted air cleaners. Of course, I did not/could not check vehicle numbers to see when they did the change over. As with anything else, there is no "normal" I am sure.

(But without that governor, they went fast!!! ;) )
