I've had a few 205's apart and I still can't figure out where that Pabst part fits in??? Is that for all the extra needles that are left if you have too many. (Beers that is).:D

i'll just have to have a few when i put it back together everything goes back the same way
Ryan
got everything cleaned up and put all the hard parts back in. should have seals/gaskets on monday or tuesday.
on to pictures

the dodge case that happily donated its 32 spline front output to the cause. now my case is 32 spline input/output/output. probably not neccesary, but it was free so why not. also snagged a 1410 rear yoke off the dodge case

all ready for seals/gaskets

i did a little massaging to the shift rails in hopes of having nice easy shifting.
i have some friends coming out from iowa for the weekend of my birthday so i got a free ride for my 454 shortblock. now i have to buy heads/cam/intake/etc. that will take a while to collect. hopefully the new plugs i ordered for the other M715 i am trying to get running will fix the problem(the old ones looked like dog poo). so i can get paid for that and put it towards engine parts
my AA spacer for the t-case should also arrive on monday so i can bolt it all in and cross my fingers that the underbelly structure clears the case with it further back than it was mocked up for
ryan
another peice of the puzzle is in the shop now.

the first draft fit fine, but with the stock case and AA spacer, it just looked like it was wrong. kind of like it was designed for a different case or something
current

tried to make my brain come up with something cool, but this is all i could get. the space to work in was all wrong for cool stuff. i had 1000 ideas that would have been neater, but i would still be there working on it if i had done any of them

Looks great!

very tight everywhere. i am glad i took the time to fit the firewall and everything very close when i built the crossmember. the engine is as far back as possible without major surgery, and it looks right at home there.

eventually this engine will get yanked and rebuilt/rodded. but for now it runs and that is good for the time being. it stinks that i don't have the money to do it now so it could go in all pretty and painted like all the rest of the driveline but oh well

set the core support back on the truck to see how bad the fan hit radiator. surprisingly it didn't, but it is very close. will be easy to make it work

I love this! Keep the pics coming!
Definitely looking great! Keep up the awesome fab work!
I still can't figure out how you were able to run a mechanical fan. Even with my engine (big block chevy) only 3/4" away from the firewall, there wasn't any way to fit a mechanical fan in there. I went with the short water pump, almost no spacer and still ended up moving the radiator into the core support for clearance. I am still stumped as to why it didn't work for me.
So, is the stock radiator big enough to cool a big block, or are you grafting in a larger radiator?
Zach
A stock 230 radiator in new conditon, cowling on a mechanical fan or twin electric fans can cool a healthy Big Block. Mine did until we had a run of 100+ degree days and I had to go long distances at speed. The 40 year old non cleaned out radiator started leaking and I swapped in a Summit aluminum one. No problems since.
thanks guys
i beat the firewall a little bit, and the passenger valve cover is close to the firewall. it should all be fine. the motion of the drivetrain has room, but not much front to back. i will end up with a bigger radiator since i plan to work the truck hard from time to time. depending on how much room i end up with after messing with the front accesories i may move the radiator into the core support a little bit.
Randy is correct, a stock radiator will work, but is not recommended. I meant to add that to my post above but got distracted or something and forgot. Sorry.
well being conservative in my halloween fun has paid off. with the help of a few smokes, several cups of coffee and a hot pocket has netted me a hydralic clutch. now i just need my advance bell housing to come in. ordered some front springs for the D60 swap as well. pics later

Nice mounts...like the beefyness!
Is that spreader right by the steering box? Look factory or someones mod to maybe reinforce the steering box area?
We had snow early last week...came down, melted instead of sticking...
i also forgot to mention that i scored a freebie set of 4.56 gears for the 14bolt, and my boss wants his blazer to be 4.10:1 so we are going to do a front axle swap so i will end up with 4.56:1s. also ordered a set of 2.5 inch springs for the front and those should be coming any day now. the advanced adapters bell housing should ship tomorrow and i shoul have my 14 bolt 1410 yoke in the next few days. pretty soon ill have all the cheap easy stuff and have nothing left but expensive hard stuff left. oh well
Ryan
Interesting...thats a new one on me!
Looking good Ryan!
Keep the pictures coming, I love following builds like this one. Nice Job.
Thanks Gentelmen
i was not happy with how it looked in the pics i posted above, and thought the axle needed to be moved forward, so now it is an inch forward of the above photos. other than some welding there realy wasn't any noticable changes.
i did receive the 1410 yoke for the 14 bolt. i am also a little worried that i am going to have to make my own fuel tank now also...
Ryan
got my rancho 2.5 inch springs in yesterday, so naturally i had to put them on. the truck is HUGE. i hope these springs settle in at least an inch. also really glad i pushed the axle forward that extra inch.

the tires and wheels are for a rock buggy we are building so i bolted them on to see what it would look like since they are the same size as the ones i will be using
Ryan
Stepsidedan: I moved the posts about your project ideas to the Modified forum in its own thread. Your topic is interesting enough to justify this move and doing so keeps Ryan's thread free from diversion.
forgot my camera, but i made a little progress.
received the advance adapters bellhousing and my u-bolts from Alcan. started to pull the trans on thursday and got stricken down by a case of the stomach flu. had to call in on friday... first time in my professional carreer that i have had to call in sick. but i felt better today and spent a few hours at the shop. got the tranny back in and got the belly pan welded up. thankfully it held its dimension perfectly and was not a problem. so now the truck is ready for me to set the rear pinion angle.
next on the list are driveshafts, rear gears, front axle swap, and wiring. it also looks like i will have to build myself a new fuel tank to keep the driveshaft out of it. not for sure yet
Ryan
a few pics of the new stuff
bell housing is all shiney and new

clutch fork is where it ought to be. ordered the slave cylinder braket from AA last week. was going to make one, but it was only 24 bucks, so i just hit the Buy It Now button
http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l8...15/m715229.jpg

Looks good. Your motor mounts put the engine lower than mine. That will allow you to put a more substantial air filter than I have.
Thanks Tim
i am glad i went throught the time and effort i did for my engine mount. it has come out very well. for now i will be running a stock style chevy air cleaner, but in the future i have plans to run a can style set up from Unique Meteal Products. we have used them on customers vehicles before, and they are nice units and use commonly available heavy equipment cylinder type filter elements. we put one on the cummins 715 but its odd will the snorkel and all, so i have to figure out a plan for how i am going to do it in my truck. that and find the extra 300 bucks for it when there are more neccesary places to spend that money for now

I cant cut the metal pieces that well let alone put the thing together....amazing work Ryan!!
I've said it once and I'll say it again, you sir, are a professional! Outstanding work!
Looking great, but be very careful with the tack-tack-tack welding style.
thanks Jon, Randy, and Mikel
For what its worth Mikel, i don't stack tacks. that is a continuos (sp?) weld. just a tecnique used to give that stacked look. i am more than confident that something else will fail long before the welds break
Ryan
