Dave, Those are some mighty up-close and very clear pictures of the upper valve train. Great job. I'll be installing a new valve cover gasket soon as the weather breaks alittle. My question is this, I've heard that keeping the new gasket afixed to the valve cover when you turn it over to seat it can be a trying experience. If this is the case, are their any secrets to the procedure? Also, with the valve cover removed, is their anything to check for like play in any of the moving parts? Readjusting rockers? Etc. Thanks

Yes, I have bought a 24v blower motor for it. Cables I already have. I modified some back in 2004 to work for it.
militarypotts- I have in the past witha troublesome gasket, put a few small dabs of permatex in spots around it. Real light, just enough to cause it to want to stick to the cover when it's upside down.
One thing is that it looks like I'm going to need the clutch pivot arm and the pivot bracket that bolts to the front of the bell housing, so if any one has them, let me know.

Everybody warned me how "gutless" the stock 230's are but in my use ive found it to be plenty powerful, even surprisingly so. I guess id like a little more juice shifting between second and third, or enough power to run 4wd in 3rd in some places where i drive but its got all the gal it needs to get where i need to go! I also like having a vehicle built how it should be and not guessing what the other guy did wrong previously. The Truck looks great!

Beast, that a clean looking engine compartment. You have a nice looking truck there

The main reason why I'm going back to the stock motor is because of the super clean condition this truck is in. For some of the members who were not around in late 2004 / early 2005 when I did my restoration and posted it here on the Zone, you can check out the highlights on my webpage here, http://www.davidallenracing.com/M715.htm

That panel had been languishing in a non running truck for 20 plus years. Glad to see it going to good use. Going to check the clutch parts on the same truck tomorrow if you still need them. I'll report back what I have.

Sorry about your finger. You work very fast, maybe to fast! Sure looks good tho. Nice to see a project going the opposite way. V8 to straight 6. Love it.

I was aligning the trans with the cross member when it dropped. I thought the engine crane was holding more wieght than it was and when I moved the trans a bit it dropped the last bit quickly. Finger came out when it bounced. A little tape and some Advil and we finished the job.
Wrecker, I think KyKen has the clutch pieces I need already pulled so hold on and I'll let you know if I need them from you.
