nuts and bolts

We see similar issues to what rboltz is saying.

For the fine thread stuff (and 7/16) I have to go to the fastener places. Because of the oil business, Houston has lots of places to choose from.

adding this to the drool list...

(I, too, have spent countless hours driving across town to get a handfull of fasteners I needed to do a 15 minute job. So frustrating!)

What I meant to add that was relevant to the topic -- my buddy who's shop I mostly use keeps a large wooden box, probably 4' x 12" x 12" that we throw all our "extra" bolts/nuts/etc into. Probably weighs at least two hundred pounds these days. It has saved our behinds more than once!! Highly recommended.

I'm pretty darn lucky, I'm less than 1/4 mile from Fastenal, and Fleet Farm (midwest farm supply stuff) is just past that for more common stuff.

What helps, suggest for X'mas some of those plastic containers with rear hooks and the mounting metal board behind it. Works great for all your fasteners, coffee cans work good too. Just organize by inch and thread size, you can mix lengths if you want.

Like someone said, it's easier to have some on hand than to run miles for one bolt.
