Mine is 99% trail only. I have not run shocks on the rear for years. Not since 2002 actually. I really don't see any reaon to considering what I do with it.

got the tags today and took it down the road.
i also found some shocks that look long enough for my fronts. i am not worried about the rear shocks since the springs are so stiff. the front actually moves quite a bit with the GM springs. its kind of wallowy on the road without them. maybe this weekend i will get them on

i forgot the camera, but the shocks are installed. it is kind of funny running this thing up the ramp. it is all in the front, and the front flexes rather well. i just need to get the back to move a bit.
anyhow, the shocks are from the rear of an 04 f-150, and have ~10.5" of travel. the jeep uses pretty much all of it. i am sure if i could ge the rear to flex a little it would be quite capable in the twisties. the rear is on my list of to dos.
i think i actually need a 12" travel shock and some new bump stops for the front if i want to make sure everything survives. i am not worried about messing up these shocks since they are not permenent and they were free.
i think the next big thing will be the cage. i think i found enough DOM at the avalanche shop and i am going to see if i can buy it and start bending.

Ryan, I used the top, longest two leaves of the original spring pack, ditched the rest. Acquired a pair of packs from the front of an slightly burnt 88 Wagoneer, removed the top leaf (the one with the eyes) and blended the remaining springs with my two stock leaves. You'll not want for more flex. Big difference in the ride.
he he he he, he said "slighly burnt 88 Wagoneer"! It was a toasted Wagoneer if I remember the pictures correctly.
I thought you had Chevy springs on the front Ryan?
Toasted...slightly burnt... Whatever you wish to call it...LOL
I think he does have chevy springs on the front. I think I confused you as I used front wagoneer springs on the rear of my truck.
Now it makes sense. Front springs on the rear that actually flex. Cool idea.
Just don't tell my truck, I don't want to make it self conscious.
i do have the rancho 2.5" lift spring for the front of a K30 in my truck. they move well.
i like the idea if the front springs in the rear Doug, but i want to maintain the ability to load this pig down. i am thinking about using longer newer springs and maybe figure out some airbags. maybe not airbags but definately newer and/or longer springs. we had good luck with deaver, but they are pricey.
in a bit of good news my mom called me today and she is going to bring me my tires when she is out to visit in 8 or 9 days.
