Details on the gauges? They're going to be cool!
Are they sealed up behind that window? My truck leaks back there all the time. But then, mine's a heap.
It’s an intellitronix build it yourself kit. I don’t have it completely wired yet. I’m going to put something over the top at least to keep water off of it, but the truck stays in the garage and won’t be hardcore off-roaded, so I’m not too worried about it getting wet. I have a brand new cowl seal to put on when it goes back together.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6236b0f55e.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5a10923b74.jpg

I keep looking for another update on your build!
We all want to see that dash light up!
Love it so far man, keep up the great work!
Sorry, going to be a little slow going now. Camaro is on the hoist and I’ve been collecting parts for my stock car. Next I’ll need to get that ready for the track! But THEN, it’s back to the M715, lol.

Booooo!!! But we understand. As long as you are having fun, that is the main thing.
I started getting hooked on your frequent posts there for a bit, and wanted to see what direction you were going to go. The bumpers, the dash, I mean, who is this guy!?!
Racing is done for the year and she’s back in the shop! The Dana 60 front is almost done, just waiting on a few last parts to arrive to put it back together. The 14 bolt for the rear is only waiting on seals and parking brake kits then it’s good to go.
Got the chassis stripped the rest of the way today, and I think I figured out my plan to move the front spring perches. The shackle flip out back seems to be worth about 2.5” of lift, and spring over on the D60 up front looks to be worth about 6”. I’ll take the springs in this week and get the front de-arched about 2” and new bushings. Rear bushings (and posts on the truck) are mint, so I’ll just get the rears re-arched about an inch. That should still be 1/2” high on the front but I figure better that way and I’ll just block the rear up to whatever looks right.
My satin black POR-15 should show up next week too. Novak motor mounts are here and so is my new steering box and pitman arm, so lots to do! Guess I should get at this 350 and look over the trans and transfer case one of these days too...

More progress. Front springs have been moved under the frame to match up with the D60 kingpin perches. I didn’t like the shackle angle on the rear after the shackle flip so I carefully drilled out the rivets and welds and moved the shackle mounts forward. Front axle is ready to mount as soon as the paint dries!
I got all new glass and seals. My black vinyl stars showed up.
I got rid of the 37 x 12.5” tires and have 40” x 13.5 on the way. I was going to use my old H2 rims but after a few hours grinding and smoothing corroded chrome enough to get some OD green on them I decided it wasn’t going to look good and ordered some beefy steel rims instead. They’re satin black and I haven’t decided if I’m going to leave them or shoot them in OD green...
I also decided to LS swap my 83 Camaro. That means the healthy 350 in it gets a new home between the frame rails of the M715. Should save lots of time on the M715 build over rebuilding the old 350 I had for it. All I need to do is swap the headers out for some centre dump manifolds I have and switch the Holley 700 DP to an Edelbrock 4 barrel with electric choke that I just got.
Next up, frame paint and getting the rear axle buttoned up!

I am very jealous. Nice welds. What kind of welder are you using for frame work?
Thanks! I’m no great welder, but the new MIG machines make anyone look like they know what they’re doing, lol. It’s a little Miller 211 dual voltage. The duty cycle isn’t super high so I get lots of 10min breaks waiting for the thermal protection when I have it up closer to max for 1/4” steel, but it’s been great for most stuff I do in the 1/8” to 3/16” range. It does .040” - .060” pretty good too for bodywork. I usually have it plugged into 240, but it’s nice that I can run it off my generator on 120 for quick fixes nowhere near an outlet!

Well, the kids have hockey 14 times per week, but still plugging away! Should be a productive Xmas break. 95% of the parts are here and ready to assemble!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...854a4a4448.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b099b53214.jpg

Looking Good!
Real nice! Like the rims/tires. What paint did you use for the frame? I am about to paint mine and will probably end up with POR15.
Awesome... thanks for the info.
Been slowly getting at it! Everything seems to take so much time because I’m trying to make all the new parts work together or refurbishing the old components as I put stuff back together. Had a helper today though! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6171ccbde6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...05d8c51268.jpg

Truck is looking awesome. It’s great to have a helper! My daughters won’t set foot in my shop
For chassis paint, I am using Eastwood Extreme Chassis paint on my CJ2A. I like it it better than POR-15. It sprays on and is not as thick as POR-15. The downside to POR-15 and powdercoating is that it is not easily removed later in life.
Any tips on how you guys clean inside s tubular frame? How to get all the old mud out then prime/encapsulate and paint?
My current plans are to shoot up inside every hole I can find and use my pressure washer, then use the POR spray paint (or other) with a straw/hose to get up in the frame.
Dash is ready to go in!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9b3c2d636e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ae00b788db.jpg

Nice! Love the wiring work. Pretty slick.
I used several cans of this stuff inside the boxed in areas of my truck's frame, and especially the rocker panels, and hat channels of the cab and bed.

Redneck defrost from the drainpipe aisle at Home Depot and a little duct tape, lol. Blasts the window pretty good! Second floor heater cause it’s a soft top and my wife is always cold!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...72cf901513.jpg

I like!
Sorry guys, thought I’d be further along by now but some health stuff came up. On the mend now and back at her. Just got the LS1 all buttoned up for the Camaro so the 350 from the Camaro https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...50b8bc3d13.jpgwill be coming out very soon. SM465 and NP205 are rebuilt, mated, and waiting. Been doing lots of easy stuff like fuel system and wiring and small things.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1dcf1c885b.jpg

Beautiful work. When you look at the red truck you started with and what you have now, well it's pretty cool. Thanks for the PM's. I saw some great answers to some questions I had. What tires are those and are those wheels 16 or 17's? I thought I would bring your thread up to the top for a little nudge to keep going on it. :D
The wheels are heavy gauge 17” x 10”. I think I got them from Summit Racing. The tires are Yokohama Geolander X-MT’s, 40x13.5 R17. I wanted something that paid tribute to an army style tread but without the weight and price tag. These were about $500/ea, which is pretty cheap for new 40’s!

Yokohama's are a really good brand. So getting a tire that spins true, does not cause weird handling problems is worth the price when it all works. I have about 6 different tires bookmarked. Including two versions of Yokohama's. And I found a wheel I really like. I will get everything after the suspension mod's then order up. It will be like Christmas in July. ;) Or October...:D
I like your tailgate. I have 2 M715 beds without a tailgate. Your pictures got me thinking I should consider fabricating up my own too. Do you have any dimensions of the materials used that you are willing to share?
I'm planning on using one bed for a M715 trailer and the other bed on my next M715 truck project.
I just measured the opening and cut a piece of sheet to size minus a little clearance. The “frame” is 2x2 thin wall square tube around the outside and 2x4 in the middle. I sent a DXF to my local laser shop for the lettering and spot welded it from the back side. I’ll take a few pics tonight for what I did with the hinges!

Thanks. What gauge did you use for the sheet steel? Would 16 gauge work? I'd be interested in seeing the hinges too.
I matched the rest of the bed thickness. It might have been thicker than 16 gauge. Might have been 3/32? Here’s some pics. The hinges are just DOM cut into chunks and some laser cuts I had made.
I bolted all the hinge pieces together with washers in between, clamped the tailgate where I wanted it, and then welded the hinges to both sides. I got some plastic washers to put on the hinge bolt between the hinge sections.
