i had the same problem with mine, i think the 12v conversion just puts too much amperage through the 40 year old breaker.
what i did for mine is i rigged up a simple relay under the dimmer switch that controls the headlights. all other lights still go through the switch, but it cuts the amperage down enough so that the lights stay on.
