Your not going to believe this but my truck left me stranded at a major intersection (relatively speaking) on my way in to town today. I was coming down a slight hill to the stop light and when I depressed the clutch the engine died on me. Would not start up again. I was up to operating temperature as I had driven about 10 minutes.
I ended up having to get the truck towed home on a flatbed. What a joy it is to have your wife coming running out with the digital camera as your truck is being unloaded. Ugh.
I thought my Pertronix install and fixed loose wire at the ON/OFF switch had resolved my engine issues but I guess not. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to troubleshoot further.

Sounds just like what happened to me... If you just installed the petronix, check the wires inside the ignitor if you aren't getting spark. The distributor weights had cut through the ballast wire. To fix it, I pulled the round plate that has the points on it, and taped the wires to the coil to make sure they'd stay away from the weights. It's still a pretty tight fit though...

That is EXACTLY what happened. Just discovered it for myself. I think the way I ran the Pertronix wires didn't help matters as it pushed the power wire out.
I tried some electrical tape but it didn't work very well but I didn't do it the way you suggested. A test run at home with a few high rev bursts didn't cause any contact after inspecting again but I think I will go the same route as you.
Thanks for the suggestion 97XJSP
