The sending unit attaches directly to the xfer case. It has enough cable that I was able to route it along the frame, up the driver's fender, and run it through the firewall with the rest of the harness. I had to add about 3' of extra wire for both of the ones going to the speedo.

The speedo itself is $115. The sender is $60.

If you need a full set of guages, the hotrod kit is a better value since they include all the senders and guages for $280.

Thanks for the info. Since I just installed that Hurst shifter, it'll be a bit before I get new gauges, but I think this is the one to go with. <g> It'll be nice not having to use the GPS all the time!

Hang onto the GPS, it's handy for getting the speedo calibrated. Once you get the general speed set (travel exacrly one mile), you can fine-tune it. I used the GPS to fine-tune so it's dead-accurate at 65MPH.

Wow! Those pix look good. I like the idea of having ALL gauges the same style. I might have to spring for the set. Are all the senders electronic, or does the oil pressure gauge have the little oil tube and the temp gauge have the thermocoupler permanently attached?

All the ones I have are electronic (oil pressure sender is the little can-looking thingy that gets plumbed to the block then wired). But VDO does sell the same line with mechanicals if you want them.

Again, if you're looking at the whole set, it's MUCH cheaper to get the street-rod guage kit in the style of your choice. I made the mistake of NOT getting it and had to get all my senders and such separately.

Good to know. I'd prefer the electronic one. I don't want a pressurized oil line coming into the cab. Also, all wire connections make it easy to remove the cluster if I need to.

I'll have to remember to look up the VDO kit when the time (and $$) comes. Thanks!
