Ok I was wrong, I just got back from taking pictures of my truck. There is just a piece of weather stripping seperating the two panes of glass. Like I said I havent seen the truck in quite some time, I thought it was a nicer job than it acctually is, I mean it really isn't that bad, I didn't even know it was stripping. I don't see why anyone would spend the extra money getting custom glass made for it though, do you think it was done by a previous owner? And I'm sure you can guess what my next question is, what do you order a new windshield for? A Gladiator?

You should be able to take it to any auto-glass shop and they will be able to cut and fit a new windshield for you. Since there is no contour to it, it should be relatively inexpensive.

Many members have gotten one cut with a template made from the windshield frame for under $100...

That's not a bad price, I guess it couldn't cost much more than that being just a flat piece. I had a '52 MGTD that I had to get a custom windshield made up for, I don't remember it being too expensive. I like the look of a split window so maybe I'll keep it that way. Has anyone ever had any problems with the body flexing (during some off roading) and cracking a full size windshield? I'm sure that even if the body does twist a little that it isn't enough to do any damage to the glass in the truck, but being as I have yet to have the chance to do any wheeling I'm still a little sceptical about a convertable truck.

"jaydog" out in SoCal was going to put in a deuce windshield I think. But then again maybe I'm mistaken.

Yeah, Jaydog put one in a 715 and I put one in a 725.

Interesting look...does appear to have a stock seal around the edge...wonder what they were thinking...

Who ever put the glass in was to stupid to figure out how to put one piece in so they had it cut in half and installed each half and then put the piece down the middle to seal it up. Have the one piece put back in. You'll be surpised at the difference in the field of vision.
Don't worry about it being a soft top! The military has been off roading in soft top vehicles for over 60 years. If it really bothers and worries you then I'll be happy to relieve you of any worries and take your truck from you.... :)

Wonder if that was for a specific setup. Something long that needed clearance such as a recoiless rifle. The windshield could have been lowered enough to raise and lower the barrel then restore the windshield to the upright position for driving.
